According to the Hanoi Transportation Department, the project aims to improve infrastructure at the Co Linh intersection, enhance traffic flow between Vinh Tuy Bridge and Long Bien, and vice versa, alleviating congestion at this major gateway to the north of the capital.

The design features a tunnel with a total length of approximately 600 meters, including a 100-meter enclosed section and an open section of about 260 meters. The project also includes 240 meters of retaining and wheel-guard walls, seamlessly connecting to Dam Quang Trung Street and the approach to Vinh Tuy Bridge.

With a width of 27 meters, the tunnel will accommodate six lanes of traffic. The project also involves widening the surrounding roads by encroaching on sidewalks and adjusting the central divider. The total investment for this project is estimated at nearly VND 750 billion.

The Hanoi Transportation Department plans to commence construction on September 3, 2025, with an expected completion date of December 2027. Upon completion, the Co Linh intersection and the approach to Vinh Tuy Bridge will feature three levels of roads, including an overpass, the existing intersection, and the new tunnel.

By investing in this project, the Hanoi Transportation Department aims to close the gap in the Ring Road 2, resolve conflicts at this critical intersection, provide seamless connectivity between surrounding routes, gradually improve the transportation infrastructure, and reduce environmental pollution.
