At the exhibition celebrating 80 years of the Industry and Trade sector’s growth alongside the country, held at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi), Son La Hydropower Company showcased a self-designed and manufactured robot, attracting much attention.
The development of this robot commenced in 2021, with nearly a year spent on conceptualization, research, and consultation with experts.
This autonomous robot can move according to a preset map at speeds ranging from 0.1 to 0.7 m/s. It pauses for 3-5 seconds at various positions to capture images, measure environmental parameters, send data to the IPC, and store it on a server. After inspecting the three generator sets, the robot returns to its resting position to recharge.
It can enable/disable monitoring of individual generator sets and skip inspections of equipment undergoing maintenance. At the cabinets, the robot captures images and immediately processes them on the server. Upon detecting anomalies, it pins the image with a timestamp and sends an alert to the operator. The alert thresholds are flexibly adjustable.
The system employs a camera for livestreaming, environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, CO, COâ‚‚), real-time data storage, and AI, machine learning, and deep learning capabilities to provide alerts via a control panel and SMS.
By detecting anomalies in cabinet indicator lights and environmental parameters, the robot enhances monitoring accuracy, boosts productivity, reduces manpower requirements, and ensures safety.

The robot has been operational at the Son La Hydropower Plant since late 2022 and is currently also deployed at the Lai Chau Hydropower Plant.
Son La Hydropower Company, a subsidiary of Vietnam Electricity, continues to enhance the robot’s capabilities and develop new types of robots, such as dog-like robots, humanoid robots, and flycams, considering cost and the specific conditions of the plant’s equipment and layout.
As the operator of the Son La Hydropower Plant – the largest hydropower plant in Southeast Asia with an installed capacity of 2,400 MW, the company is responsible for stable and safe power generation. Additionally, they play a crucial role in flood control, water supply during dry seasons, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the Northwest region.
In recent years, the company has focused on applying modern scientific and technological achievements to management and operation, investing in digitalization and automation solutions, thereby affirming its position in Vietnam’s electricity industry.
Besides the Son La Hydropower Company, the exhibition featured the participation of several other organizations showcasing their notable robotic products.
Phenikaa-X presented two models of industrial autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) designed and built by Vietnamese engineers: the AMR Pallet Mover, capable of transporting loads up to 1,000 kg, already implemented at the Samsung Electronics Thai Nguyen Factory, and the AMR 250, a compact version with a 250 kg capacity, suitable for confined or obstacle-filled production environments.

Vingroup introduced the humanoid robot VinMotion, impressing visitors with its flexible communication skills, intelligent interaction, and ability to remember information about those it interacts with.
The Billionaire’s Clean Project Hunt
“Savvy investors know that when it comes to choosing a project, it’s all about legal peace of mind. The majority of discerning investors will prioritize projects that have their legal ducks in a row, or are at the very least, a hair’s breadth away from completion. This provides an assurance that their investment is secure and that the project is legitimate and compliant with all necessary regulations.”
“Biometric Technology Slashes Bank Fraud by 60%”
The State Bank of Vietnam reported that as of August 15th, the banking industry had acquired nearly 124 million individual customer records and 1.3 million organizational customer records for entry and biometric data verification. This initiative has proven successful, resulting in a nearly 60% reduction in the number of customers falling victim to fraud and subsequent financial loss.
