Vietnam’s National Achievement Exhibition Center (VEC) in Dong Anh, Hanoi, has become a national sensation, attracting over 10 million visitors in just 19 days since its opening.
With a total investment of VND 7 trillion, this project by Vietnam Exhibition Fair JSC (VEF), a Vingroup subsidiary, is hailed as a symbol of speed, vision, and sustainability. Inaugurated during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, VEC stands as Southeast Asia’s largest exhibition complex and ranks among the world’s top 10. Beyond its architectural marvel, it embodies Vietnam’s aspirations for global integration.
The project’s most remarkable feat is its construction timeline. Originally slated for two years, it was completed in just 10 months, thanks to government support, investor determination, and the dedication of thousands of engineers and workers. At its peak, 3,000 workers and 800-1,000 pieces of equipment operated in three shifts, utilizing a steel structure with spans over 100 meters, a central height of 56 meters, and over 90% high-strength bolted connections. This effort shaved off 15 months, ensuring timely completion for the nation’s significant celebrations.

VEC’s architecture draws inspiration from the legendary Golden Turtle God of Co Loa Citadel, with a blue-gold dome representing the head and eight subsidiary roofs symbolizing the feet, blending cultural heritage with modernity.
Spanning over 900,000 m², the complex features the 130,000 m² Kim Quy Exhibition Hall with nine main halls and a central atrium, alongside VinPalace Co Loa (16,800 m²), green parks, a balancing lake, a 3,000 m² food court, and parking for over 10,000 vehicles.

According to Tran Le Phuong, Chairman of VEF, the project underwent meticulous planning from design to operation. In its first year, VEC aims to host major international exhibitions and support domestic brands, enhancing Vietnam’s global standing. The iconic Kim Quy dome is poised to symbolize a Vietnam that innovates, creates, and embraces global integration.
