Unveiling the Truth: Unregulated Sales by Ngoc Korea Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company

Unveiling a shocking discovery, over 5,000 cosmetic bottles, falsely marketed as "Korean products," were seized during a surprise inspection by market management authorities at a facility owned by Ngan Korea Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Co., Ltd. in Gia Lam district, Hanoi. Lacking any invoices or documentation, the entire consignment, valued at over 2 billion VND, was confirmed to be smuggled goods.

On May 31, 2025, Market Management Team No. 8 (Gia Lam District) under the Hanoi Market Management Department collaborated with the Police Department for Investigating Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environmental Offenses (PC03) of the Hanoi Police to conduct a surprise inspection at a business location within the premises of the former Yen Thuong Commune Kindergarten, Lai Hoang Village, Yen Thuong Commune, Gia Lam District.

This location is operated by Ngoc Korea Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Co., Ltd., headquartered at No. 2, Alley 80/1, Lai Hoang Village, Yen Thuong Commune, Gia Lam, Hanoi.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 5,400 cosmetic products without invoices or documentation, identified as smuggled goods. The inventory included 2,520 bottles of Dr.Melaxin Peel Shot Exfoliant Rice Ampoule (80ml/bottle, Made in Korea) and 2,880 bottles of Dr.Melaxin Peel Shot Exfoliant Black Rice Ampoule (80ml/bottle, Made in Korea). The total value, based on listed prices, amounted to VND 2.16 billion.

The company representative admitted that all cosmetic products were purchased from unofficial sources without legal documentation. Additionally, the company violated regulations by operating at an unregistered location. The case is under further investigation for appropriate legal action.

Previously, on May 12, 2025, Market Management Team No. 8 and PC03 inspected a business at 58A, Alley 130, Cong Thon Village, Yen Vien Commune, Gia Lam District, owned by Dang Thanh Nam (resident of Bac Ninh City, Bac Ninh Province).

Authorities seized 16,840 counterfeit items, including clothing, hats, and accessories bearing famous brands like Adidas, Nike, Burberry, and Lacoste, as well as 220 foreign-made men’s shirts without invoices. The total value of the smuggled goods exceeded VND 900 million. Due to criminal indications, Market Management Team No. 8 transferred the case to the Hanoi Police for further handling.

On May 8, 2025, authorities inspected a facility at A17, CN-02-2-1, Ninh Hiep Industrial Cluster, Ninh Hiep Commune, Gia Lam District, uncovering 1,971 counterfeit denim products bearing brands such as YSL, Dior, Chanel, LV, and Gucci. The estimated value of the goods was over VND 227 million. Market Management Team No. 8 filed the case and referred it to the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency for processing.

From May 15, 2025, to date, Market Management Team No. 8 has inspected and addressed 16 violations, primarily in Ninh Hiep Commune and surrounding areas. Administrative fines and ongoing proceedings total VND 336 million, while the value of goods slated for destruction is nearly VND 2.46 billion.

During the peak period and moving forward, Market Management Team No. 8 will continue to strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies to combat smuggling, counterfeiting, intellectual property violations, and commercial fraud in the region.

The team will also enhance legal education and awareness campaigns for businesses, fostering a fair competitive environment and safeguarding the legitimate rights of consumers and law-abiding enterprises.
