Breakthrough Product: HFO-Based PIR Panel
TONMATPAN (a subsidiary of TONMAT Group) has successfully announced the production of PIR (Polyisocyanurate) panels using HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin), marking a significant milestone in Vietnam’s construction materials industry. This innovative panel combines three key attributes: environmental friendliness, production safety, and superior insulation.
HFO stands out with its extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP) index, posing no threat to the ozone layer, thereby significantly reducing the impact on climate change. Additionally, HFO ensures absolute safety in both production and application: non-flammable, non-toxic, and harmless to workers and end-users.
Experimental results show that conventional PIR panels have a thermal conductivity coefficient (Lambda λ) ranging from 0.020 to 0.022 W/m·K, while TONMATPAN’s HFO-based PIR panel achieves an impressive 0.01837 W/m·K—the lowest in Vietnam to date. The lower the thermal conductivity, the higher the insulation efficiency, leading to reduced energy loss and operational cost savings.
Beyond exceptional insulation, the HFO-based PIR panel boasts high mechanical durability, fire resistance, moisture resistance, and long-term performance in harsh conditions. Its smooth, bright surface and high aesthetic appeal make it suitable for both industrial and modern residential, commercial projects.
Growing Demand for “Green” Materials
Globally, nations are striving toward the Net Zero goal—achieving net-zero emissions. Green construction materials play a pivotal role in this endeavor. Many developed markets have implemented stringent energy and environmental standards, demanding materials that are both energy-efficient and eco-friendly.
In Vietnam, this demand is increasingly evident. Rapid urbanization, coupled with the surge in industrial zones, logistics hubs, shopping centers, and high-end residential projects, has heightened the need for effective and sustainable insulation solutions. Sandwich panels are emerging as a strategic construction material.
Sandwich panels reduce energy consumption by 20 to 40% during operation, thanks to their very low thermal transmittance (from < 0.020 to 0.040 W/m²K). Their use indirectly lowers CO₂ emissions by conserving energy for cooling and storage systems. Moreover, sandwich panels enable 40 to 60% faster installation compared to traditional materials, reducing construction time, labor, and long-term operational costs.
In this context, TONMATPAN’s HFO-based PIR panel is poised to become a solution for modern construction’s energy and environmental challenges. With its outstanding advantages, this panel is ideal for various applications: cold storage, food preservation warehouses (maintaining stable temperatures and saving energy); processing plants, factories (ensuring safe operation and reducing energy costs); large-scale warehouses, logistics centers (requiring durability and high efficiency); and residential, commercial projects (supermarkets, offices, green buildings) prioritizing energy savings and aesthetics.

Mr. Trần Trung Kiên, Deputy Director of International Trade at TONMATPAN, shared:
“We are proud to have mastered green, safe, and eco-friendly materials like HFO, enabling us to produce PIR panels with Vietnam’s best insulation performance. This achievement positions TONMATPAN as a top choice for FDI projects in Vietnam and opens doors to conquer markets with stringent green material standards, such as the EU, Japan, and the U.S.”
Green Production, Toward a Sustainable Future
The successful production of HFO-based PIR panels not only expands TONMATPAN’s high-quality product portfolio but also underscores the long-term commitment of TONMATPAN and TONMAT Group to sustainable development. This technological advancement reflects the Group’s vision to align with Vietnam’s goals of reducing emissions, conserving energy, and fostering a green economy.
Mr. Hà Văn LÅ©ng, Production Manager at TONMATPAN, emphasized: “This strategic move aims to create modern, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly structures. Our success highlights TONMATPAN’s research and innovation capabilities, elevating Vietnam’s insulation material industry.”
