Toyota has introduced a hybrid variant of its popular B-segment sedan, the Vios, to the Southeast Asian market, with Thailand being the first to receive it. Locally, the model is known as the Yaris Ativ HEV, and the hybrid version will be available from mid-August 2025, offering two trims: Premium HEV and GR Sport HEV.
A standout feature is the HEV’s powertrain, which combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of approximately 111 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. It also features a 0.7 kWh battery pack. This hybrid system achieves an impressive fuel efficiency of just 3.4L/100km, significantly lower than the 5.77L/100km of the 1.5E-CVT variant currently sold in Vietnam.

In terms of features, the hybrid variant retains much of the design of the gasoline model but adds hybrid-specific identifiers such as a blue-accented logo and HEV badge. The interior is upgraded with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, combination upholstery, and wireless charging. The GR Sport trim includes exterior and suspension enhancements, as well as improved brakes for a sportier driving experience.
Thai media reports that within just one month of its launch, the Toyota Yaris Ativ hybrid has garnered 3,700 pre-orders, highlighting its appeal in the market.

In Thailand, the two hybrid trims of the Toyota Yaris Ativ are priced at approximately 719,000 – 769,000 baht (equivalent to 503.4 to 538.4 million VND). In the B-segment hybrid sedan category, the Toyota Yaris Ativ competes with models like the Mazda2 and Honda City.
In Vietnam, the Toyota Vios is one of the best-selling B-segment sedans, consistently ranking among the top in sales. In August, Toyota sold 726 units, making it the second best-selling model for the brand and the second most popular in its segment, just behind the Honda City.
Toyota Vietnam has localized production and distribution of the Vios, with prices starting at 458 million VND for the 1.5E-MT manual variant, 488 million VND for the 1.5E-CVT, and up to 545 million VND for the 1.5G-CVT. The brand is currently offering a registration fee waiver with a maximum support of 54 million VND.
