At the Tourism Promotion Programs Workshop, held on November 11th, the Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center addressed key concerns regarding new flight routes and the 2026 plan.
“Determining the core value alongside current visitor trends is challenging, making it difficult to position the city for the future. What does Da Nang aspire to be on the global map? This question deeply troubles the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism,” stated Ms. Thắm.

According to Ms. Thắm, the city must adopt a long-term positioning strategy rather than launching a new campaign each year. In reality, while many tourists search for Da Nang, their specific interests remain unclear.
“Why does only Da Nang, Vietnam, boast the Dragon Bridge? What significance does it hold? Why do visitors come, often just to admire the bridge? Why does the dragon’s eye resemble a heart, and why does it lack a beard? These intriguing stories define Quang Nam – Da Nang. Positioning should inspire people to visit,” Ms. Thắm explained.
The Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center added that once positioned, the city will develop tailored products and campaigns to attract visitors. For instance, positioning Da Nang as a haven of tranquility and healing, akin to returning home, would focus on related narratives. All offerings would align with this theme, ensuring visitors feel at home.
Da Nang aims to welcome 19.5 million visitors by 2026, a 12% increase from 2025. This includes over 8.9 million international tourists. Markets like Japan, China, and Southeast Asia are expected to grow by 5-10%, while the CIS market is projected to rise by 30-40% due to its high potential.
Da Nang targets 19.5 million visitors in 2026.
The city will promote specialized new products for specific markets, aligning with visitor segments and trends. This aims to enhance experiences and attract high-quality tourists following the expansion of tourism spaces and offerings.
Notably, Da Nang strives to attract 1-2 international routes to Chu Lai Airport and maintain or increase international flights and airlines to Da Nang. Connecting international passengers on domestic routes will further boost visitor numbers.
“Da Nang Must Always Think Innovatively About Developing New Products”
Da Nang’s path to progress lies in leveraging its unique advantages, especially in terms of policy frameworks, to create exceptional and innovative products, as suggested by Associate Professor Dr. Pham Trung Luong, former Vice Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research. To thrive and elevate its status, Da Nang must focus on generating benefits not only for its socio-economic landscape but also for the businesses that partner with the city.
Da Nang experiences a bustling influx of tourists during Tet, generating nearly 1.6 trillion VND in tourism revenue.
According to Vietnam’s leading newspaper, Tien Phong, on February 14th (the 5th day of Lunar New Year), the Department of Tourism announced that the city welcomed nearly 402,000 visitors during the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday.
