Building a Foundation Over Three Decades, C.P. Vietnam Brings Food to Global Tables

Over the years, CPV Food Binh Phuoc's establishment of an integrated production chain model has enabled the export of processed chicken meat to Japan. This achievement serves as a springboard for the factory complex in particular, and C.P. Vietnam in general, to gradually become "the world's kitchen."

The 10,000th ton of processed chicken exported to Japan from CPV Food Binh Phuoc (Chon Thanh Ward, Dong Nai Province) marked a significant milestone as the surrounding area transformed into a bustling hub, attracting residents and businesses alike.

Few could have imagined that this once desolate land, dominated by vast rubber plantations, would undergo such rapid change in just a few years.

When asked if the establishment of CPV Food Binh Phuoc, with its $250 million investment, played a pivotal role in this transformation, Mr. Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit, CEO of C.P. Vietnam, smiled and replied in Vietnamese, “We wouldn’t dare claim to be the sole contributor to the local economy. However, we are undoubtedly one of the pioneers in this region.”

The Indispensable Fs in the Feed – Farm – Food Model

What makes you consider CPV Food Binh Phuoc a pioneer in the industry?

Construction of the CPV Food Binh Phuoc complex began in late 2018, when the local production ecosystem was still in its infancy.

Alongside other major players, C.P. Vietnam’s market leadership inspired confidence in other companies to invest and establish operations here, creating new job opportunities for the workforce.

With strong government support, CPV Food Binh Phuoc recently achieved a milestone by exporting 10,000 tons of processed chicken to Japan in less than three years since obtaining its license. I boldly consider this another pioneering achievement.

Before 2022, Vietnam lacked a formal framework for exporting processed poultry to Japan.

To enable CPV Food Binh Phuoc’s exports to Japan, we are deeply grateful for the collaborative efforts between the Vietnamese and Japanese governments in facilitating trade. This was a crucial breakthrough.

Subsequently, CPV Food Binh Phuoc’s dedicated efforts were instrumental in penetrating the market.

Japan’s stringent quality standards make the acceptance of our processed poultry products, produced under the Feed – Farm – Food model, a notable achievement.

CPV Food Binh Phuoc is the first Vietnamese entity to accomplish this.

The Feed – Farm – Food model, which delivers food from farm to table, is widely adopted by many companies and isn’t novel. What sets CPV Food Binh Phuoc’s approach apart?

At CPV Food Binh Phuoc, we maintain a fully integrated management system encompassing feed production, farming, and food processing.

The process begins with a rigorous quality control system for raw feed materials.

Each batch of feed undergoes testing for residues, pathogens, and nutritional content before distribution to farms. This ensures livestock receive safe, high-quality nutrition from the start.

Next, our farm management system features enclosed barns to minimize disease and contamination risks. Temperature, humidity, and ventilation are closely monitored, and strict hygiene protocols are enforced for farm workers.

Every poultry bird undergoes health checks and vaccinations, with records stored in a “Digital Traceability System” linked to a “Central Database” for oversight.

In the slaughtering and processing stage, CPV Food Binh Phuoc employs a “Water and Air Cooling System” and “Automated Cutting System” to precisely control temperature and reduce contamination risks.

In summary, every step from farm to table is meticulously monitored. Our “Digital Traceability System” meets the scrutiny of both Vietnamese authorities and international clients, ensuring transparency and accountability.

As a result, CPV Food Binh Phuoc has earned international certifications such as HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000, and Halal, gaining recognition from major trading partners in Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Leading global brands and domestic distributors also trust our food safety system.

The Future Vision of the “Super Complex”

What lessons has exporting 10,000 tons of processed poultry to the demanding Japanese market taught CPV Food Binh Phuoc?

Exporting to Japan has provided us with invaluable insights into adhering to food safety systems, traceability, and international standards.

To meet these requirements, we continuously invest in operational processes, upgrade factory technology, and train personnel.

Additionally, our production process prioritizes quality and flexibility, catering to the unique demands of each market.

For instance, while chicken hanging can be automated within the complex, EU animal welfare requirements mandate manual handling. CPV Food Binh Phuoc accommodates this by having workers gently hold the chickens before further processing.

Successfully entering the Japanese market demonstrates that “Made in Vietnam” processed poultry meets international standards. This achievement paves the way for us to enter other high-potential markets.

Currently, we have export licenses for Singapore and aim to expand to the EU, including the UK.

Is CPV Food Binh Phuoc’s ambition to become a global food production and supply complex?

Absolutely. With a $250 million investment, CPV Food Binh Phuoc has a clear strategy to position Vietnamese processed chicken as a global competitor.

Beyond our Feed – Farm – Food model, sustainability and environmental responsibility are critical for entering developed markets.

The factory recycles by-products like meat scraps, feathers, and bones into raw materials for animal feed. Our advanced wastewater treatment system allows safe reuse in production, meeting high environmental standards.

Through circular economy practices and green technology, CPV Food Binh Phuoc aims to reuse 80% of materials in a “zero-waste” model.

The complex also integrates automated technology throughout production and operates under global certifications.

C.P. Group’s motto is to become the “world’s kitchen.” With early strategic investments, CPV Food Binh Phuoc is steadily realizing this vision.
