FPT TELECOM SECURES EXCLUSIVE BROADCAST RIGHTS FOR THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE IN VIETNAM
FPT Play, a subsidiary of FPT Telecom with over 35 million registered accounts, has officially announced its exclusive broadcasting rights for the English Premier League in Vietnam for 5.5 seasons (from January 1, 2026, to the end of the 2030/2031 season).
This milestone is the result of a strategic partnership with Jasmine International , a Thai conglomerate holding the regional broadcasting rights. Under this agreement, Jasmine International retains the original rights, while FPT Telecom acts as the exclusive distributor and commercial operator across all platforms in Vietnam.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Soraj Asavaprapha, CEO of Jasmine International, stated: “Recognizing the strategic importance of the Vietnamese market, we have chosen FPT Telecom as our local distributor, aiming to achieve 1.5 million subscribers in the first year.”
Following the announcement, FPT Play launched an aggressive market penetration strategy with flexible pricing. The company offers a Combo Internet-TV package starting at 59,000 VND/month for new subscribers and VVIP packages from 100,000 VND.
FPT TELECOM TO PAY THAI PARTNER $26 MILLION ANNUALLY
In a disclosure to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on December 8, 2025, Jasmine International revealed that its subsidiary, JAS HK, secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the English Premier League in Vietnam for over $110 million across 5.5 seasons (approximately 2.9 trillion VND).
The payment schedule disclosed by Jasmine International highlights a concessional phase during the transition period. Specifically, the broadcasting fee for the second half of the 2025/2026 season is a symbolic $10 .
However, financial pressure will mount during the subsequent 5 seasons (2026-2031), with an annual payment of $22 million to the Premier League organizers in England.
The structure of the Premier League broadcasting deal between Jasmine and FPT Telecom is as follows:
The agreement between Jasmine International and FPT Telecom outlines two key financial obligations for the Vietnamese partner.
First, FPT Telecom commits to an annual fixed service fee of $26 million (approximately 685 billion VND), payable regardless of the Vietnamese broadcaster’s profitability.
Second, a revenue-sharing mechanism requires FPT Telecom to share 35% of its revenue with Jasmine International after deducting related investment costs .
Based on this cost and pricing structure, the Thai conglomerate expects an annual profit of $4 million (approximately 105 billion VND ), representing a gross margin of 18% on the investment cost , excluding potential revenue-sharing gains from strong market growth in Vietnam.
Beyond the broadcasting deal, the Thai conglomerate’s ecosystem benefits further through ancillary services. A $15 million (approximately 395 billion VND ) contract has been awarded to MONO Streaming, an affiliated company, to provide technical consulting and subscriber management system implementation in Vietnam.
