Unlike many other suppliers who only do trading, Prosi Thang Long owns 6 large-scale factories in Binh Phuoc, Yen Bai, Ben Tre, Binh Duong, and Bac Giang provinces. The factories are located in the source areas for direct sourcing from farmers. In addition, cost savings in transportation help Prosi offer more competitive prices to customers.

Inside Prosi Thang Long’s BRC-standard factory

Vietnam is known as the birthplace and ideal cultivation area for Star Anise (or Star Aniseeds) and has become one of the two largest Star Anise producers in the world.

Star Anise is actually the fruit of the big or small Anise tree. Each fruit has 8 petals spread out like a flower, which is why the Chinese people call it “eight-sided fragrant flower.” Star Anise is famous not only for its unique flavor and culinary applications but also for its medicinal benefits.

According to scientific studies, Star Anise contains more than 20 different compounds such as paracymene, limonene, oleic acid, stearic acid, tecpen, and especially shikimic acid, which is the ingredient of Tamiflu. This is the specific drug for treating H5N1 avian influenza.

Utilizing the natural advantages, Prosi has established two large factories in Yen Bai province and Bac Giang province, following BRC standards. BRC is a global food safety standard established by the British Retailer Consortium (BRC), suitable for quality control and food safety.
