The construction of the heritage, tourism, and economic development road along the Red River is underway, connecting cultural landmarks and fostering regional growth.
As the year draws to a close, the construction site of the Red River Heritage Road project in Hung Yen province buzzes with activity. Multiple work fronts are in full swing, with machinery and labor operating at high capacity to meet the project’s deadlines.
Designated as a regional transportation project, the Red River Heritage Road plays a pivotal role in enhancing infrastructure and strengthening connectivity among localities along the river basin. The total investment is estimated at approximately 10 trillion VND.

The investment in this road is expected to significantly enhance Hung Yen’s essential transportation network.
Spanning 13 communes in Hung Yen, the road begins at Km0+000, marking the boundary between Hung Yen and Hanoi, corresponding to Km76+984 on DT.378 (left bank of the Red River) in Phung Cong commune. It ends at approximately Km55+680, intersecting the left bank of the Red River at Km133+500 in Tan Hung commune, with a total length of about 55.68 km.
The project includes the construction of overpasses across irrigation canals, such as at Lien Nghia pumping station, Nghi Xuyên pumping station, and Nghi Xuyên bridge, ensuring compatibility with water flow and long-term operational requirements.
The Red River Heritage Road is taking shape, promising transformative impacts on the region.
This road is anticipated to not only complete Hung Yen’s vital transportation system but also facilitate the movement of goods and people. Additionally, it unlocks opportunities for efficient land use along the route, supporting the development of industrial clusters, urban areas, and tourism services, thereby attracting investment to the region.
Beyond its infrastructure significance, the road is envisioned as a cultural and spiritual connector along the Red River. It aims to link key heritage sites such as Thang Long, Pho Hien, Tam Chuc, Bai Dinh, and Chua Huong, creating a cultural tourism corridor between Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Ninh Binh.

The emerging Red River Heritage Road is reshaping the region’s transportation landscape and redefining development along the river axis.
On-site observations reveal that several sections are progressing systematically, from land grading and foundation work to technical component installation. Contractors are accelerating efforts to meet approved milestones.
As the Red River Heritage Road materializes, it is set to transform the region’s transportation infrastructure and redefine development along the river. Amidst efforts to strengthen regional connectivity and sustainably leverage cultural and tourism potential, the project is poised to become a key driver in the Red River Delta’s future growth.
