On the afternoon of December 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with a working delegation, inspected the Long Thanh International Airport project.
This marks the ninth time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has visited the project site. The first phase of the Long Thanh Airport construction project has a total investment of nearly VND 110 trillion, with a timeline from 2020 to 2026, comprising four sub-projects.
According to the plan, the airport will conduct a technical flight on December 15 and is expected to welcome its first commercial flight on December 19, marking a significant milestone in the operation of the country’s largest airport.
To meet this deadline, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has mobilized over 15,000 officers, engineers, experts, and workers, along with approximately 3,000 construction machines and equipment. Contractors are working in three shifts, focusing on critical components such as runway number 1, taxiways, aprons, and passenger terminal equipment installation.
During a meeting with ministries, localities, and construction units at the site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and praised the efforts, responsibility, and creativity of the investor, joint contractors, consultants, supervisors, and the team of officers, engineers, and workers who have been on-site, overcoming numerous challenges to achieve significant results in recent times.
The Prime Minister requested the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and relevant agencies to continue completing the remaining tasks, maximizing manpower and equipment, and organizing construction with the spirit of “overcoming sun, rain, and storms,” working in “3 shifts, 4 teams,” and “working through the night if necessary,” including holidays and Tet, to ensure the set schedule is met.
According to the Prime Minister’s assessment, the project is showing clear progress daily and weekly. To date, eight critical components have been substantially completed, including the passenger terminal—dubbed the “heart of the airport”—and the air traffic control tower. The runway is now lit and ready for takeoffs and landings; the 80MW power infrastructure, water supply, fuel, communication systems, and airport access roads are also nearly finished. Remaining tasks, such as installing passenger boarding bridges, planting greenery, and finalizing landscaping, are being expedited.
The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Defense to direct Military Zone 7 and related units to support construction efforts until project completion. The Ministry of Public Security is tasked with ensuring absolute security, order, and safety at the construction site.
The Ministry of Construction is instructed to collaborate with ACV, Vietnam Airlines, and relevant agencies to finalize the detailed plan for the technical flight on December 15 and the first commercial flight on December 19. The Ministry of Public Security will coordinate with the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, ACV, and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to thoroughly review security, safety, fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue conditions.
Airlines such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet are urged to expedite the completion of their hangar projects. Relevant agencies and units are to finalize auxiliary components, ensure progress, and complete the overall landscaping and environmental sanitation of the airport.

Reliable, High-Quality Power Supply Ready to Serve Long Thanh International Airport
In November, Dong Nai Power Company (PC Dong Nai) successfully collaborated with Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to connect the 22kV feeders of the Long Thanh 110kV Substation to the national grid. This milestone integration into the airport’s internal distribution system marks a critical step in completing the electrical infrastructure for Long Thanh International Airport. With this achievement, the airport is now fully prepared to ensure a safe and reliable power supply once operations commence.
