Sun PhuQuoc Airways Secures B1/B2 Technical Training Approval: A Strategic Leap Towards Aviation Resource Autonomy

Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) has been granted approval by the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority to expand its training capabilities. The company is now authorized to provide basic aircraft maintenance training for A1/B1.1+ B2 and B1/B2 levels, specifically tailored for the A320/A321 aircraft models. This development marks a significant milestone for SPA, enhancing its expertise in aviation technical personnel training.

This milestone positions SPA as one of the few young Vietnamese airlines with a closed-loop operational ecosystem, encompassing Air Operator Certificate (AOC), Approved Training Organization (ATO), and Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO).

Technical Autonomy: The Foundation for Sustainable Growth

The approval to train for basic technical licenses B1 (mechanical, engine) and B2 (electrical, avionics systems) is a key enabler for SPA to gradually build a high-caliber engineering team. With this new training capability, SPA can recruit fresh talent and train them to become certified technicians at A/B1 and B2 levels. Instead of relying on foreign experts or external partners, the airline can now fully self-sustain its core workforce for the A320/A321 fleet. This rare achievement for a young airline reflects a robust investment strategy in human capital.

Approval for B1 and B2 training enables SPA to build a high-caliber engineering team.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Phạm Đăng Thanh, Deputy General Director in charge of Technical Maintenance at SPA, emphasized: “Amidst the aviation industry’s shortage of high-quality technical personnel, in-house training empowers SPA to proactively build a solid foundation for realizing our fleet expansion and transcontinental network growth ambitions.”

In a short time, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has completed its legal framework in line with international aviation standards. The synergy between ATO and AMO creates an “on-site training – hands-on practice” model using the airline’s own fleet. This approach not only optimizes operational efficiency and enhances safety standards but also strategically positions SPA to upskill for wide-body aircraft in the next phase. Broader still, this internal capability-building elevates Vietnam’s aviation competitiveness in the regional value chain.

Launching “TECH-GEN 2026”: A Launchpad for Future Engineers

To operationalize its newly approved training capabilities, SPA has officially launched the TECH-GEN 2026 program. The initiative aims to recruit 200-300 engineers by 2026, scaling up in subsequent years. This next-gen aviation engineer training model seamlessly integrates advanced theory with practical application for engineering students.

TECH-GEN 2026 is a next-gen aviation engineer training model.

The program offers two specialized tracks: CRS A for vocational/college graduates aiming to become professional aircraft maintenance technicians, and CRS B for university graduates targeting B1/B2 senior engineer certification. Participants receive comprehensive training for international certifications, along with attractive benefits and guaranteed core positions at SPA upon graduation. TECH-GEN 2026 directly addresses the high-skilled talent shortage, ensuring SPA’s resource autonomy for expansion.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is building a self-reliant, modern operational model.

As part of Sun Group, Sun PhuQuoc Airways aims to integrate premium flight experiences with high-end tourism, hospitality, and entertainment services in Phu Quoc and key domestic/international destinations. The B1/B2 training approval and TECH-GEN 2026 initiative are strategic moves demonstrating SPA’s robust management and long-term vision. Through substantial investment in infrastructure and people, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is establishing a self-reliant, modern operational model that redefines Vietnam’s aviation standing globally.
