In early March 2024, at the construction site of Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant 1 (Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh), thousands of workers and engineers are working tirelessly to accelerate the progress of this major project.

The work atmosphere is filled with enthusiasm. Hundreds of equipment are being diligently constructed, ready to complete the project by 2026.
The construction area of Boiler Turbine Unit 1, managed by LILAMA Company, is witnessing the bustling activity of around 2,000 workers, including 200 engineers and 1,800 workers, along with hundreds of large and small technical vehicles. The goal is to complete the installation of Boiler Turbine Unit 1 in August 2024.
Engineer Nguyen Ngoc Giap, Head of Safety Committee of Quang Trach Thermal Power Plant 1 Project, said that the project is currently focusing on manpower and equipment for construction. There are about 1,000 workers and hundreds of engineers racing against time to complete the project.
Mr. Mai Duc Toan, in charge of Construction Supervision at Turbine 1, said: ” In addition to ensuring the schedule set by the investor, we always prioritize safety. Therefore, all construction processes are fenced off with warning signs around the work area. Along with that, there are guards to warn those who are unauthorized to enter the construction area “.

According to the report of the project management board, the construction progress of the power plant has reached 52% of the volume. The target for 2024 is to strive to complete the installation of steel structures of Turbine House 1 in the main plant area in August and complete the installation of smoke ducts in December.
With the cooling system, the project is focusing on machinery and equipment for construction. It plans to complete the concrete structure of the water pumping station by July 2024. The goal is to complete 80% of the length of the cooling water pipes by the end of 2024.
In addition, the freshwater supply system and water treatment system will complete equipment installation this year. As for the coal yard, the goal is to complete the erection of 50% of the roofing structure; the slag disposal site will complete 60% of the excavation works. The target is to start operating generator unit 1 in May 2026 and generator unit 2 in October 2026.
