Also according to the 2022 Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey report released in early April 2024 by the General Statistics Office, the national per capita income for the 2012 – 2022 period increased by more than 2.3 times, from 1.99 million VND/person/month to 4.67 million VND/person/month.

Specifically, in 2022, the average income of people nationwide reached 4.67 million VND/month, an increase of 11.1% compared to 2021. Thus, the national average per capita income reached about 56 million VND/year. Of which, urban residents have an income of about 5.95 million/month, while rural residents have an income of about 3.86 million VND/month – reported by the Tuoi Tre newspaper.

The monthly average income of people is calculated by the General Statistics Office to include all amounts of money received from wages, salaries, and income from self-production in the fields of industry, construction, agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, trade, and services, as well as other income.

Also according to a survey by the General Statistics Office, with the above average per capita income, people are spending an average of about 2.8 million VND/person/month. And with an average household population of about 3.6 people/household in 2022, each household spends an average of about 10 million VND/month.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Statistics Office, said that the average per capita income in the household living standards survey includes dependents in the household, who do not work, are unemployed, or have not reached working age. If we separate the average income of wage earners, it will be higher.
