Why Biometric Authentication?

Secure accounts, protected information: Biometric authentication using fingerprints, facial recognition, or iris scanning provides an optimal security layer for customers’ accounts. Only the legitimate account holder can access it, ensuring personal information and assets are always safe.

Prevent illegal account trading and renting: By implementing biometric authentication, banks can easily detect and prevent illegal account trading and renting. This helps protect customers and contributes to a healthier financial environment.

Enhance cybersecurity: Modern biometric technology is an effective solution to minimize the risk of personal information theft.

VietABank’s biometric authentication solution is currently applied to transactions over VND 10 million; total daily transfers of VND 20 million or more; first-time transactions on VietABank EzMobile; and first-time transactions on a different device than the one used for the most recent VietABank EzMobile application transaction.

To enable biometric authentication, customers can follow these methods:

  • Online: Self-operate on the VietABank EzMobile application. Customers need: National ID Card (CCCD) with a chip; Access Settings, press update feature to set up biometric authentication for the VietABank EzMobile app; The mobile device in use has an iOS operating system from 12.0 and Android from 5.0 or higher, and supports NFC to read the Chip on the CCCD with a chip as prescribed by the Ministry of Public Security.
  • In-person at the counter: Customers need to be present at the counter and bring their CCCD with a chip.

According to VietABank’s representative, biometric authentication is a new feature on the VietABank EzMobile application that complies with the State Bank’s requirements and helps ensure customers’ financial safety. It is one of the ways to confirm the identity of the account holder, preventing and limiting losses due to fraud.

VietABank also recommends that customers carefully read and follow the instructions for safe transactions through digital banking channels and be vigilant and knowledgeable about online scams to minimize financial losses.

Earlier, in May 2024, VietABank successfully implemented the customer information authentication feature using the National ID Card (CCCD) with a chip that integrates NFC reading capability and is confirmed by C06-Ministry of Public Security in the online account opening process (eKYC).

According to experts, biometric technology is a method of identifying and verifying individuals based on biological characteristics such as fingerprints, iris patterns, voice, and facial images. This technology is considered to maximize the possibility of counterfeiting and provides the highest level of security today. Transferring money using biometric authentication is safe and efficient. For many consumers who often forget their passwords, biometric authentication in money transfers and payments offers several advantages and increased security.
