On July 8, in Hanoi, President To Lam attended the Conference on the Review of the Public Security Work in the First Six Months of 2024, held by the Ministry of Public Security.

In his directive speech, President To Lam commended the achievements and results of the Public Security Forces of various units and localities over the past time.

The President emphasized the need to focus on leading and directing the Party building work and the building of the People’s Public Security Forces. At the same time, it is necessary to continue promoting exemplary leadership and effective direction in anti-corruption and negative behavior, first of all, in preventing and fighting corruption and negative behavior within the force with the spirit of “no stop, no break”, “no restricted area, no exception, no matter who they are.”

The President also requested the Ministry of Public Security to focus on completing and stabilizing the organization; effectively deploying the conclusion of the Politburo on the policy of allocating funds from the State foreign exchange reserve fund to implement the project on modernizing the material foundation of the People’s Public Security Forces by 2030, ensuring the successful implementation of the key tasks set by the 13th Congress of the Party and specified by Resolution 12 of the Politburo, with some forces reaching the level of modernization by 2025, creating a solid premise for building a modern People’s Public Security Forces by 2030.

Practically deploying activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Forces and the 20th anniversary of the Whole People’s Security Movement.

Investigating and clarifying many corruption, economic, and public opinion cases

The President also requested the Ministry of Public Security to focus on consolidating the people’s security front and building a truly strong people’s security foundation, associating with the entire people’s defense foundation, and the people’s army on the basis of a solid “people’s heart” by specific, practical, and daily actions, in accordance with Uncle Ho’s teachings: “Do whatever is beneficial to the people with the utmost effort, and avoid whatever is harmful to the people with the utmost effort.”

Continuously strengthening the close-knit relationship between the public security forces and the people, coordinating closely with the people’s army, and truly becoming the core force of the Party and the people in implementing the strategy of protecting the Fatherland.

President To Lam noted that the People’s Public Security Forces should continue to promote unity within the force, unity between the People’s Public Security Forces and the People’s Army, with the central and local ministries, branches, and international friends, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, and excellently completing all tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people, firstly, successfully implementing Resolution 13 of the 13th Congress of the Party and the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security.

In the first six months of 2024, the Ministry of Public Security investigated and clarified 22,022 social order crimes (higher than the target set by the National Assembly), crushed 65 criminal gangs, and detected more than 3,000 cases and nearly 4,900 objects of corruption, economic, and smuggling crimes (up 21.63% in volume and 47.12% in objects compared to the same period in 2023); speeding up the investigation and handling of major and new cases with the motto of “handling one case, warning the whole area, the whole field”, and thoroughly recovering property for the State.
