The 2026 Land Law has removed the provisions on land price frames, and land will be valued based on market principles. As a result, each locality will determine its land price list and adjust it annually to align with market land prices, instead of the current practice of adjustments every five years based on minimum and maximum prices set by the government.
From January 1, 2026, provinces and centrally-governed cities will apply a new land price list, which will be closer to market land prices and may be higher than the current ones. Meanwhile, compensation prices will be calculated based on specific land prices, leading to higher compensation prices compared to the present, including for agricultural land.
In addition, according to the new Land Law, people who are compensated for agricultural land will also be entitled to additional expenses such as support for relocating livestock and support for dismantling and relocating assets attached to the land…

Moreover, people will also enjoy more benefits in terms of compensation and resettlement when their land is revoked according to the 2026 Land Law.
Article 96 clearly states the compensation for land when the State revokes agricultural land from households and individuals. Accordingly, if households and individuals using agricultural land meet the compensation conditions stipulated in Article 95 of this Law, they shall be compensated with agricultural land, cash, land of another type, or houses.
Regarding resettlement arrangements, according to Clause 6, Article 111 of the 2026 Land Law, people whose agricultural land or non-agricultural land (other than residential land) is revoked and who meet the compensation conditions and have a need for compensation in the form of residential land or houses will be compensated with residential land or resettlement houses if the locality has the conditions in terms of the residential land fund or houses.
Thus, households and individuals whose agricultural land is revoked can be compensated with residential land or houses if they have the need and the locality has the land fund to allow it.
