On August 16, in Hanoi, the 13th Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam met to discuss and provide opinions on personnel work.

The Central Executive Committee elected Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang as a supplementary member of the Political Bureau. Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Public Security, and Minister of Public Security.

Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang was born on October 17, 1965, in Hung Yen province. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Security and has a senior political theory level. He is a member of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He has served as Head of the Economic Security Department, Deputy Head of the General Department of Economic Security, Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Deputy Chief of Office, and Chief of the Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.

In 2019, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security and Chief of the Investigative Security Agency under the Ministry of Public Security. In January 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General. On June 6, the National Assembly passed a resolution approving his appointment as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

With the supplementary election of Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, the Political Bureau of the 13th term now consists of 15 members, including General Secretary and President To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Permanent Member of the Secretariat, Luong Cuong; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Van Nen; Head of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs, Phan Dinh Trac; Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission, Tran Cam Tu; Minister of National Defense, Phan Van Giang; Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, Nguyen Hoa Binh; Chairman of the Central Theory Council, Nguyen Xuan Thang; Head of the Central Organization Commission, Le Minh Hung; Head of the Central Propaganda Commission, Nguyen Trong Nghia; President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Do Van Chien; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Bui Thi Minh Hoai; and Minister of Public Security, Luong Tam Quang.

At the conference, the Central Executive Committee elected three supplementary members to the Secretariat and decided to introduce personnel and provide opinions for the Political Bureau to introduce personnel to complete the leadership of several state agencies for the 2021-2026 term.
