On the evening of August 22, the Trade Union of Thanh Hoa province informed that over 1,000 workers who had stopped working at Alena Vietnam Co., Ltd. (located in Dinh Lien commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province) returned to their normal work in the afternoon of the same day when their demands were heard and met by the employer.
During the dialogue, which extended into the early afternoon of August 22, the company agreed to the workers’ proposal to provide a meal allowance for overtime work (from 2 hours onwards) in the amount of 20,000 VND.
Regarding birthday gifts for workers, the company agreed to give cash instead of gifts as before.
Previously, as reported by NLD, starting from the morning of August 22, about 1,000 workers at Alena Vietnam Co., Ltd. simultaneously stopped working and gathered in the company premises to request additional overtime pay.
According to some workers, despite working overtime for 2-4 hours, the company did not provide meal allowances, which is a benefit they should receive for night shifts. In addition, some workers felt that the gifts given by the company on holidays and birthdays were not commensurate with the union fees they had paid…
Upon receiving this information, representatives of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Trade Union, Yen Dinh District Trade Union, and relevant authorities immediately went to the company to listen to the workers’ concerns and coordinate with the employer to protect the rights and interests of the workers.
