Indian billionaire Dilip Shanghvi, Chairman of Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited, is one of the richest people in India and is expected to be part of this tour group.

The Indian delegation will be divided into 6-7 smaller groups, visiting Vietnam in several batches. According to the plan, the group will stay in Hanoi and visit famous tourist attractions such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoa Lo Prison, and Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. They will then travel to Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) and Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (Ninh Binh).

The delegation will avail of high-end accommodation services at 4-5-star hotels and have specific requirements for food, in line with their faith and religion. Additionally, they require a minimum of three tour guides for each group of approximately 30-35 people to ensure the best experience. The selected tour guides must be proficient in Hindu, and introductions at the tourist sites, usually in English and Vietnamese, will be supplemented with information boards translated into Hindu.

Localities included in the itinerary of this tourist group are also ready to welcome them. Mr. Pham Duy Phong, Deputy Director of Ninh Binh Tourism Department, said that the delegation would be divided into seven batches to visit the Trang An eco-tourism complex.

“With experience in hosting large groups of tourists, after receiving the document from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and Vietravel Travel Company, the Ninh Binh Tourism Department has coordinated with related departments and enterprises to prepare the best conditions to welcome the delegation,” said Mr. Phong.

According to Mr. Phong, the fact that the Indian billionaire’s delegation chose to visit Trang An confirms the attraction of Trang An’s beauty to international visitors. At the same time, this event is expected to contribute to promoting and widely advertising Ninh Binh’s tourism image to international friends.

Regarding accommodation, the representative of the Ninh Binh Tourism Department said that Ninh Binh city has about ten hotels that meet the 4-5-star standards and can meet the delegation’s requirements. There may be challenges with cuisine as Indians typically require separate dining arrangements that align with their culture. The department has guided enterprises to organize express training courses in Indian-style cooking.

Earlier, Vietravel Travel Company said that due to the large number of tourists in this group, the enterprise had prepared a very detailed script of activities for the tourists to participate in.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first seven months of 2024, India ranked 7th in the list of the top 10 international tourist markets to Vietnam.

For Indian tourists, Vietnam is alluring due to its beautiful natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and unique heritage sites that embody local culture. Moreover, Indian tourists can easily obtain visas to Vietnam, and geographical advantages make travel convenient, with a flight time of only about 4-5 hours from India to Vietnam.

Conversely, for Vietnam’s tourism industry, the Indian market, with its population of over 1.4 billion and a growing middle class willing to spend on travel, is an essential factor in enterprises’ focus on developing domestic tourism.

However, Indian tourists have distinct cultural, religious, and lifestyle characteristics, requiring very strict services and standards. Therefore, thoroughly exploiting and attracting a large number of tourists from this market is not easy.
