Typhoon Yagi is currently located over the northern part of the South China Sea, about 200 km southeast of Hainan Island, China, and 620 km southeast of Quang Ninh province. The storm is expected to make landfall on September 7 in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa, with the heaviest impact expected from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh. However, from last night to the early morning, heavy rains and strong winds in Thanh Hoa province caused many trees in the city to uproot and fall.
