On September 16, the People’s Committee of Da Nang City announced the master plan for the Innovation Subdivision, with a ratio of 1/2000 and a total area of approximately 3,770 hectares in Hoa Quy, Hoa Hai (NgÅ© Hà nh SÆ¡n District), Hoa Xuan, Khu Trung, Hoa Tho Tay, and Hoa Tho Dong (Cam Le District) wards, and Hoa Chau, Hoa Phuoc, and Hoa Nhon communes (Hòa Vang District).
According to the plan, by 2030, the area is expected to have a population of about 233,000 people and will serve as an educational hub integrated with a University Town, an innovation center, a software park, and a regional healthcare center.
The Innovation Subdivision’s center spans about 696 hectares and comprises distinctive spaces such as the University Village, a regional healthcare center, and commercial and residential mixed-use spaces along Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street.
The People’s Committee of Da Nang City stated that the Innovation Subdivision will feature three focal points and two main connecting corridors: the Innovation Corridor, which will link centers for training, research, and high-tech production; and the Knowledge Corridor, which will connect universities with startup and innovation hubs.
A highlight of the planning subdivision is the southern gateway to the city, located at the intersection of National Highway 1A and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, bordering Quang Nam Province. This gateway also plays a crucial role in regional connectivity, cargo transshipment, and socio-economic activities in the southern part of the city.
The Da Nang University Village, situated on the border between Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province, is a distinctive functional area that serves as a multi-disciplinary education and training hub, envisioned as a smart and green urban center.
The village’s center oversees the management of university activities, public utilities, and shared amenities. Functional areas include university campuses, research centers, startup incubators, office buildings, dormitories, commercial spaces, and residential areas, all integrated within the university premises to foster interaction, stimulate exchange, and encourage creativity.
The research subdivision’s center, bordering Tran Dai Nghia, Vo Chi Cong, Mai Dang Chon, Man Quang streets, the Cai River, and the administrative boundary between Da Nang and Quang Nam, covers approximately 696 hectares.
Meanwhile, the regional healthcare center will include an international hospital linked to universities of medicine and pharmacy and other medical facilities in the area. Commercial and residential mixed-use spaces will be developed along Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, with main roads, pedestrian walkways, neighborhood streets, and riverside routes connecting the different spaces.
The Innovation Subdivision plan prioritizes the construction of new transportation routes and interchanges to enhance connectivity. It also emphasizes key projects such as the Hoa Xuan Creative Space, the University Town, a riverside urban area southwest of the Cau Do Water Factory, and critical social infrastructure, including the Hoa Phuoc Wholesale Market, universities, Da Nang Hospital Branch 2, and high-quality general and specialized hospitals.
