At the meeting, Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan presented a proposal to adjust the Tham Luong – Ben Cat – Rach Nuoc Len canal project. Accordingly, the city proposed to adjust the total project value from VND 8,200 billion to VND 9,030 billion. The adjustment is due to increased compensation, support, resettlement, site clearance, and relocation costs for technical infrastructure works.
The city’s leaders also attributed the higher construction costs to additional investments in several items, including roads in the areas of the Vam Thuat and Nuoc Len tide control sewer projects; a fire-fighting water intake system; the construction of 39 discharge gates and the installation of new tide prevention gates for existing sewers; and temporary bridges to facilitate the movement of local residents at Rach Da Han (along the route), Hong Ky sewer (crossing the canal), Km13+150 (crossing the canal), and Km14+050 (crossing the canal) locations.
In addition, the city also proposed to extend the project implementation period from 2021-2025 to 2021-2026.

The total investment of the project is VND 8,200 billion, including VND 4,000 billion from the central budget and VND 4,200 billion from the city’s budget. The canal is approximately 32.7 km long, passing through districts 12, Go Vap, Binh Thanh, Tan Binh, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, and Binh Chanh.
