The Phu My Port – Phase 1 is being developed in Phu My Dong commune, Gia Lai province. The projected area covers approximately 205 hectares, comprising 60 hectares of land and 145 hectares of seawater. Construction is set to commence in September 2026, with a target completion and handover date of October 2028.
The goal of this project is to establish the Phu My Port to ensure a cohesive regional plan and facilitate the development of an industrial city and a future seaport city.
The Phu My Industrial Park and Phu My Port are designed to function in tandem, with the port supporting the industrial park’s production and cargo transportation needs. This integration aims to enhance inter-regional connectivity and increase the proportion of maritime logistics. The Phu My Port is envisioned as a catalyst for the formation of an industrial-port urban area.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the port is expected to handle approximately 3.8 – 4.4 million tons of cargo annually by 2030. This includes liquid cargo, general cargo, containers, equipment, bulk cargo, and specialized energy equipment.
The port’s capacity and cargo volume projections from 2028 onwards are as follows: general cargo and containers are estimated to range between 2.4 – 3.0 million tons per year, while liquid/gas cargo is expected to reach approximately 1.4 million tons annually.
According to the People’s Committee of Gia Lai, the province is scheduled to inaugurate several key projects on August 19 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
Among these projects is the construction of a second runway and associated facilities at the Phu Cat Airport, with a total investment of over VND 3,200 billion. The project is slated for completion by 2028.

Additionally, the province will commence construction on the Agricultural and Forestry Product Processing Zone project and the Phu My Industrial Park – Phase 1.
