On August 15, Hai An Shipping and Stevedoring JSC (HOSE: HAH) and Vietnam Container Shipping JSC (Viconship, HOSE: VSC) jointly issued a resolution by their Boards of Directors to contribute capital to establish Hai An Green Shipping Company with a chartered capital of VND 1,000 billion, headquartered at Hai An Building, Hai Phong City. Viconship holds 60% of the capital contribution (VND 600 billion), while HAH holds 40% (VND 400 billion).

Both parties authorized their leaders and related departments to carry out legal procedures for the establishment and operation of the new enterprise. HAH’s representative in the capital contribution is Mr. Vu Thanh Hai – Chairman of the Board, while VSC appointed Mr. Ta Cong Thong – General Director as its representative.

The joint venture aims to build large-scale transport vessels, initially a pair of 7,000 TEU ships with a total investment of approximately 180 million USD (nearly VND 4,700 billion). This move is intended to expand the fleet and increase the competitiveness of both HAH and Viconship in the international maritime transport market.

Owning large-sized vessels will help the two businesses reduce operating costs per container, combining the advantages of port operation and fleet ownership, thereby expanding their market share in long-haul routes in Asia. Both companies target further expansion into the Indian and Chinese markets or the South-North Asian routes, where demand for large-sized containers is rapidly increasing.

In the past, Viconship has continuously increased its ownership ratio in HAH, and this group now holds over 15.3% of the shares. At the annual General Meeting of Shareholders at the end of June 2025, the Chairman and General Director of VSC were also elected to the Board of Directors of HAH, reflecting a clear strategic alignment between the two companies.
