Over the past week, the price of dried coconuts in Vinh Long and Can Tho City has skyrocketed, with traders offering between 230,000 and 240,000 VND per dozen (12 coconuts). This marks a significant increase of 100,000 to 130,000 VND per dozen compared to the beginning of the year.

Dried coconut prices have surged by 100,000 to 130,000 VND per dozen since the start of the year.

According to Ms. Luong Thi Anh, a resident of Chau Hoa commune in Vinh Long province, a price of 100,000 VND per dozen at the beginning of the year was already profitable for farmers. Since April, prices have steadily climbed to 175,000 VND per dozen and now stand at 240,000 VND per dozen, bringing great joy to coconut growers.

“If prices remain at this level until the end of the year, I expect to earn over 100 million VND from my 5 acres of coconut trees,” shared Ms. Anh.

Traders attribute the recent price hike to a surge in demand from export markets. Simultaneously, the domestic market is also experiencing high demand for dried coconuts, as they are essential for producing traditional cakes and candies for the upcoming Lunar New Year in 2026.
