Mengzi: A Strategic Gateway for Agricultural Exports and Tourism

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Vo Phi Nhat Huy, Chairman of BIG, emphasized that Mengzi City is a strategic location due to its proximity to the Vietnam-China border and the border gate in Lao Cai province, where BIG already has infrastructure, including a hotel, office, and warehouse. Mengzi also serves as a commercial hub in Yunnan Province, China. Establishing a representative office here optimizes logistics, reduces agricultural export costs, and expands tourism, hospitality, and investment partnerships between businesses from both countries.

“The Mengzi office will serve as an effective bridge for cooperation, promoting coffee exports, developing two-way tourism, and creating a solid foundation for trade connections between the two nations, thereby enhancing business activities in both countries,” said Mr. Huy.

From Office Inauguration to Strategic Agreement Signings

The event began with welcoming speeches from local government representatives in Mengzi City and the Investment Promotion Agency, demonstrating strong support for BIG‘s projects in China. This was followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially launching the Big Expo representative office in Mengzi.

Subsequently, strategic cooperation agreements were signed, focusing on three key areas:

  • Tourism and Hospitality: Partnering with Yunnan Trúc Long Travel Company to bring Chinese tourists to experience the Big Hotel chain in Vietnam. Currently, BIG operates 6 hotels in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lao Cai, Hue, Can Tho, and Vung Tau, with plans to expand nationwide.
  • Coffee Exports: Collaborating with Yunnan Mengzi Yixiang Food Company to introduce high-quality Vietnamese coffee to the Chinese market.
  • Vietnamese-Chinese Language Training: Working with the BIG Language Center to expand Vietnamese and Chinese language training programs, supporting trade and tourism between the two countries.

According to Ms. Tran Thuy Nga, General Director of Big Expo, the Mengzi office will focus on strategic areas such as agricultural exports, tourism and hospitality, and language training.

Plan to Raise VND 150 Billion in Capital

According to the 2025 Annual General Meeting resolution, BIG will submit an application to the State Securities Commission in Q4/2025 to issue shares and raise an additional VND 150 billion. This capital will be used to repay existing debts, restructure finances, and support the expansion of coffee exports to China and the Big Hotel chain nationwide, aiming for 20-30 hotels by 2025-2026.

BIG stated that this plan will strengthen financial capacity, drive sustainable revenue and profit growth, and create long-term value for shareholders. The company aims to list on the HOSE by 2026, establishing a solid foundation for international business expansion.
