Mr. Dao Trong Khoa emphasized: “FIATA World Congress 2025 is not just an annual congress but a platform for the global logistics community to shape a new, greener, more digitalized, and sustainable development model.”
According to VLA Chairman Dao Trong Khoa, Vietnam is a dynamic economy with deep integration and impressive import-export growth, with total trade turnover expected to surpass $800 billion in 2025. The country boasts over 45,000 logistics enterprises, including more than 5,000 international freight forwarders, making significant contributions to the economy.
Vietnam’s logistics sector currently accounts for a market size of approximately $70-80 billion, with the potential to become a new logistics hub in the ASEAN region. Notably, the Vietnamese government has issued several strategic resolutions to develop green logistics, modern infrastructure, and international integration.
However, Mr. Khoa expressed concern that Vietnam’s logistics costs account for 16-18% of GDP, higher than the global average of 10-12%, while logistics also contributes to 8-10% of CO₂ emissions. This underscores the urgent need to reduce costs while “greening” operations, thereby creating sustainable competitive advantages.

According to Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, Chairman of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), green logistics and rapid adaptation are of utmost urgency. The global logistics industry is witnessing profound changes in trade shifts, geopolitical volatility, the rise of e-commerce, technological explosions, and sustainability pressures. Logistics enterprises are at the heart of these transformations, ensuring reliable, efficient, and responsible movement of goods for people and the planet, even as protectionist trends increase.
“FIATA World Congress 2025 will be a platform for the international business community to share solutions and establish strategies for the logistics sector to rapidly adapt to the times,” affirmed the FIATA Chairman.
Mr. Takashi Kagamoto, General Director of Mitsubishi Estate Vietnam, believes that Ho Chi Minh City and major import-export centers have a favorable foundation for robust logistics development. However, risks from trade policies, climate change, or international transport disruptions could create significant shocks if the logistics system is not flexible enough.
“Therefore, to keep pace with the global supply chain shift, Vietnam needs to invest comprehensively in infrastructure connectivity, workforce quality, and building a full-scale digital ecosystem,” stated Mr. Takashi Kagamoto.
