The “Red Flamboyant” train is a luxury, modern service operating the Hanoi – Hai Phong route, managed by the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company. Its design embodies the essence of Hai Phong, catering to the growing demand for unique rail travel experiences. Since its launch in May 2025, it has attracted a significant number of passengers and generated substantial revenue within just seven months of operation.

According to Hai Phong Newspaper, the train has served nearly 841,000 passengers, completed 1,712 trips, and earned nearly 102 billion VND in revenue during this period. These impressive figures highlight the train’s appeal, offering amenities comparable to business class air travel along its 100km route.

As reported by Cong Luan, the Red Flamboyant train has quickly gained popularity since its debut in May 2025. Its striking design, superior amenities, and focus on high-quality rail tourism experiences align with Vietnam Railways’ efforts to elevate the industry. Monthly passenger numbers average over 100,000, with peak summer months (May to August) exceeding 134,000 travelers.

The train consists of 20 carriages, including two VIP carriages designed in the Indochinese style. These VIP carriages exude luxury with sofa seating, bar counters, decorative lighting, private spaces, and occasional live music performances.

Standard and first-class carriages also receive high praise for their innovative features compared to traditional trains: 180-degree rotating seats, spacious cabins, LED screens displaying journey information, free Wi-Fi, power outlets at every seat, and modern, clean restrooms.

Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, remarked in Nhan Dan: “The Red Flamboyant is more than just a train; it’s a premium rail tourism experience. We believe it sets a new standard for train travel in Vietnam.”
