Luxury phones tackle the challenge of shutting down 2G and 3G networks.

In this digital age, luxury phones are in high demand. They not only need to be carefully crafted with rare materials but also must have 4G connectivity and pioneer the use of state-of-the-art security technologies.

Many luxurious phones still use 2G or 3G network and have not yet switched to 4G

As of January 2024, Vietnam is in the final stage of shutting down 2G networks, followed by 3G. The Ministry of Information and Communications has required network operators to disable basic 2G and 3G phones starting from December 2023, urging users to switch to more advanced phones like 4G. They also need to check the import and distribution of 2G and 3G phones, ensuring that these devices no longer circulate in the market. The ultimate goal is to cease 2G mobile technology by September 2024 at the latest.

Switching off 2G and 3G networks is a global trend as it allows for the availability of frequencies for higher generation mobile networks such as 4G and moving forward to 5G. Nevertheless, turning off 2G and 3G is not just a technological shift; it will significantly affect users of older devices, especially those in the luxury segment who prefer extravagant phones that only support 2G or 3G networks.

Turning off 2G and 3G networks – The inevitable trend worldwide

This context poses a new challenge for luxury phone brands. These phones are not just known for their unique designs, luxurious materials, and an air of exclusivity, but they must now be equipped with 4G network capabilities.

Observing the market, there are not many luxury phone brands available in Vietnam. However, nearly 30% of luxury phone models currently in circulation do not yet support 4G, and some brands only offer 4G on a few models in their high-end range. This is understandable, as luxury phones prioritize factors such as distinctive design, high-quality materials, and meticulous craftsmanship. But if these devices are equipped only with 2G or 3G networks, they become useless for communication purposes when networks shut down and serve purely as “decorations”.

Yearning for new things in luxurious phones: Security, smart features, and even … 4G

In today’s digital age, luxury phones with eye-catching designs and luxurious materials are no longer enough to meet the needs of high-end customers. These phones must consider “digital factors,” particularly issues related to security and privacy.

XOR – A luxury phone brand ahead of the trend with 4G support

Understanding these trends, XOR, a luxury phone brand “handmade in England,” has taken the lead in applying new technologies and providing 4G support on its products. This ensures seamless connectivity and compatibility with the new generation of mobile technology. In particular, XOR phones feature XOR-Shield and XOR-Peer technology, delivering high levels of security and protection against eavesdropping and malware threats.

Specifically, XOR-Shield allows users to scan their SIM cards to check for safety and eliminate the risk of malware. This technology also helps XOR phones block spam messages, giving users peace of mind against cyber attacks and data breaches that are becoming increasingly common. Meanwhile, XOR-Peer provides end-to-end encrypted calling and messaging, ensuring no intrusion, interception, or eavesdropping.

Recently, the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center, under the Ministry of Information and Communications, has warned mobile users that in 2024 they may face an increasing number of new types of malicious code that may invade, exploit vulnerabilities, and take control of their phones. XOR phones address these concerns with special features that can detect fake base stations or “three-tier passwords.” Additionally, Smart Bluetooth technology turns XOR phones into communication hubs, connecting to smartphones via Bluetooth and handling all phone calls on XOR phones.
