Bamboo Airways (Vietnamese Airlines Joint Stock Company) has issued a resolution appointing Mr. Phan Dinh Tue as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the term 2023-2028, replacing Mr. Le Thai Sam. It is known that Mr. Tue joined the airline in June 2023 as a member of the Board of Directors and then as Deputy Chairman.

Prior to that, Mr. Tue served as Deputy CEO of Sacombank since 2012. Currently, he still holds the position of a member of the Board of Directors at this bank. According to Bamboo Airways, during the recent period, Mr. Phan Dinh Tue has directly participated in the management and contributed to the accomplishment of important goals in the airline’s restructuring roadmap, recognizing positive changes in the business model, fleet structure, personnel structure, and financial capacity.

After the latest change, the current structure of Bamboo Airways Board of Directors includes Mr. Phan Dinh Tue – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Le Thai Sam – Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Le Ba Nguyen – Member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trong – Member of the Board of Directors, and Mrs. Le Thi Truc Quynh – Member of the Board of Directors.

In September last year, at the extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, Mr. Phan Dinh Tue shared that Sacombank (stock code: STB) – Bamboo Airways’ major creditor, is considering investing in the airline and is proceeding with the approval procedures from the regulatory authorities.

Mr. Tue said that Sacombank is a major credit institution participating in significant financial support for Bamboo Airways. Therefore, Sacombank is truly interested in the process of Bamboo Airways’ restructuring and expects the development of this enterprise.

However, as a credit institution, Sacombank’s investment in Bamboo Airways is considered out of its main business scope. Therefore, this bank is currently making efforts to proceed with the necessary procedures and obtain approval from the management authorities in order to execute this investment.

During the restructuring process, Bamboo Airways has experienced continuous changes in its top management personnel. At the annual shareholders’ meeting in June 2023, Mr. Oshima Hideki – former Director of International Relations at Japan Airlines was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors, replacing Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trong. However, less than a month later, Mr. Oshima Hideki submitted his resignation letter. He was replaced by Mr. Le Thai Sam.

Another important position in the airline, the CEO, has also been changed three times within 2023. At the end of May, the airline appointed Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai as CEO, replacing Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan. However, after less than two months, Mr. Hai resigned, and the position was taken over by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors.

By the end of October, Mr. Luong Hoai Nam was appointed as the new CEO by Bamboo Airways. He is an aviation doctorate from Russia with over 30 years of experience in the aviation and tourism industry, having held many senior management and executive positions at major airlines.

During the extraordinary shareholders’ meeting held on September 16, 2023, Bamboo Airways elected Ms. Le Thi Truc Quynh – Deputy CEO, to the Board of Directors for the term 2023-2028, replacing members who were dismissed, including Mr. Hideki Oshima, Mr. Doan Huu Doan, and Mr. Tran Hoa Binh.
