International tourists flock to Da Nang on Lunar New Year’s Day

On the first day of the Lunar New Year in 2024, a 5-star cruise ship and a flight from Thailand brought thousands of international guests to explore the vibrant city of Da Nang.

On the first day of Lunar New Year, at 6:15 am, a Vietnam Airlines flight from Don Mueang (Thailand) landed at Da Nang International Airport. The Da Nang Tourism Department organized a welcome ceremony for the passengers.

A lion dance performance was held at the international arrival hall to welcome the first batch of visitors for the year. The tourism industry presented special gifts, which were local specialties, to the guests.

Welcoming passengers on the first flight to Da Nang from Thailand

First-time visitors to Da Nang on this flight were able to participate in the “prosperity picking” program right at the airport. The gifts were vouchers for various tourist attractions and entertainment venues in the city, such as Asia Park and the hot mineral springs at Nui Than Tai.

Three lucky guests received round-trip tickets from Don Mueang to Da Nang provided by Vietnam Airlines, along with tourism products from the city.

On the first day of Lunar New Year 2024, Da Nang Airport welcomed a total of 125 domestic and international flights, serving around 17,000 passengers. Among them were 53 international flights with approximately 7,500 passengers.

After the mentioned flight, the Da Nang tourism industry also organized a welcome event for domestic visitors arriving from Hanoi and a flight from Taipei (Taiwan, China). The tourists were given souvenirs such as conical hats, ginger jam, and grilled coconut cakes.

Tourists “picking prosperity for the new year” at Da Nang Airport

In the morning of the same day, the Da Nang Tourism Department also welcomed the first international cruise ship to dock at Tien Sa Port with over 1,800 Chinese tourists on board. The tourists on the ship had a 2-day experience in Da Nang, visiting famous sites and attractions such as Ngu Hanh Son Marble Mountains, Linh Ung Son Tra Pagoda, and the Cham Sculpture Museum.

During the Lunar New Year 2024, the total number of visitors and tourists in Da Nang is estimated to reach nearly 362,000, a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Among them, international visitors are estimated to reach 172,000.
