Services That Make a Lot of Money on the 30th of Tet
Every year, as Tet holiday approaches, car wash services operate at full capacity to meet the surge in demand. Especially on the 30th of Tet, it is the busiest day of the year as everyone tries to get their last car wash before enjoying the holiday. Therefore, the 30th of Tet is the opportunity for car wash shops to make a lot of money.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, the owner of a car wash shop on Vo Chi Cong Street (Xuan La, Tay Ho, Hanoi), said that on regular days, his shop only has 5 employees washing and cleaning about 20-50 cars per day. However, starting from the 20th of the lunar month, the number of cars increases to about 50-70 cars. And on the 30th of Tet, it can be as many as 100 cars. Mr. Trung had to hire 4 more people to keep up with the workload.
On regular days, the price for an exterior car wash ranges from 70,000 to 100,000 VND depending on the type and size of the car. If customers choose premium service packages, they will have to pay from a few hundred thousand to over 5 million VND. On the 30th of Tet, Mr. Trung increased the price for a regular car wash to 150,000 VND/car, while the premium spa packages remained the same.

Motorcycle wash shops are also crowded, and the price is doubled compared to regular days, from 30,000 VND/bike to 50,000 VND/bike.
Many shops operate until late at night due to the high number of customers.
Repair and maintenance shops also make money because many people choose to repair and change the oil in their vehicles before the holiday.
Men’s and women’s haircut services are also in high demand on the last day of the year. Some establishments open from early morning until the approaching New Year’s Eve. If not booked in advance, it’s difficult to get an appointment.
Haircut prices are also increased by a few tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of VND. To save time, many places even skip hair washing services.
Mr. Nguyen Thien, the owner of a barbershop on Luong Dinh Cua Street (Dong Da District, Hanoi), said: “On regular days, my shop operates from 9am to 7pm, but during the Tet season, I have to extend the opening hours from 7am to 12 midnight. On the 30th of Tet, I close a bit earlier, around 10pm. Due to the overwhelming number of customers, I can only accept appointments from those who have made reservations in advance and cannot take any more customers.”
All hair salons are packed with customers.
Spa and beauty salon services are also very popular among women.
The prices of these services increase by 10% compared to regular days due to the need for employees to work the whole day and night. Despite that, most women are willing to spend their money and wait in order to get their beauty treatments before resting and welcoming the New Year.
Chicken rental services are highly sought after on the 30th of Tet. Many people bring their own chickens to these services and are willing to pay up to 50,000 VND per chicken. The high number of customers helps the businesses earn millions of VND in just a few minutes.
