Talking to reporters, Mr. Tran Thien Thanh, Deputy Director of Truong Phat Durian Cooperative (Can Tho City), said that traders are looking to buy Ri6 durian from member farmers who grow off season with a price of 128,000 VND/kg, and Monthong durian at a price of 170,000-180,000 VND/kg.

“The price of durian has increased sharply from November 2023 until now, at that time, it was only 70,000-80,000 VND/kg. With the current selling price of 128,000 VND/kg, after deducting costs, farmers make a profit of about 1 billion VND/ha. However, there is only one garden in the cooperative with off-season durian left to sell, with about 5 tons, and now the off-season durian is almost sold out; we have to wait until the 3rd day of the lunar month to harvest again” – Mr. Thanh said.

After being granted official export permission to China in July 2022, durian in Vietnam has always been sold at high prices.

According to the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), based on data from the General Department of Chinese Customs, there are 23 provinces in Vietnam that have been granted a region code by China to export durian officially to this country.

Among which, Tien Giang Province has the highest number of region codes granted with 155 codes; followed by Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Binh Phuoc with 96, 68 and 65 region codes respectively.
