80% of workers return to work

In Dong Nai, on February 16, information from the provincial Labor Union of Dong Nai province said that nearly 80% of workers in the province have returned to work after the Lunar New Year holiday 2024. The reason is that this year, most manufacturing companies in Dong Nai province resumed work later than usual after Tet. Normally, production companies resume work on the 6th day of Tet, but this year most companies open on the 9th and 10th day of the first lunar month.

For wood industry businesses, many units still face difficulties in terms of orders and market at the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, so the Tet holiday is longer.

For some foreign-invested companies, returning to production after the Lunar New Year is earlier. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Tu, Chairman of the Trade Union of ChangShin Vietnam Co., Ltd (Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai) said that the company started production on February 15 (the 6th day of Tet), and on the first working day, nearly 90% of workers returned to work, the majority of the workers who were still away were far away, so they took Tet holidays combined with annual leave. The company sends new year greetings to workers and gives them VND 200,000/worker. Currently, the company ensures production orders until the end of the first quarter of 2024.

After Lunar New Year holiday – Giap Thin Year, on February 16th (7th day of Tet), about 70% of businesses in export processing zones and industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City have resumed work, with 80 – 90% of workers back to the factories.

In Ho Chi Minh City, according to observations from reporters at Linh Trung II Export Processing Zone (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), Theodore Alexander Co., Ltd is one of the enterprises that resumed work from the 6th day of Tet. Most of the workers of this company have returned to work in the factories. Long Rich Vietnam Co., Ltd in Linh Trung II Export Processing Zone has also resumed operation after Tet.

A representative of Juki Vietnam Co., Ltd (Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) also said that on the first working day after the Lunar New Year holiday, about 90% of workers returned to the factory.
