Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Dispatch No. 14 directing the remedial actions of the exceptionally serious traffic accident on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway, located in Thua Thien Hue province.
On February 18th at 10:00 AM, at Km48+200 on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway in Thua Thien Hue province, an exceptionally serious traffic accident occurred when a 7-seater car with license plate number 36A-485.XX collided with a tractor-trailer with license plate number 63C-136.XX resulting in three fatalities.
Immediately upon receiving the accident report, the Prime Minister ordered the delivery of heartfelt condolences and deep sympathy to the bereaved families of the deceased victims.

In order to promptly address the consequences and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister has instructed: the Chairman of Thua Thien Hue People’s Committee to directly organize a conference with relevant agencies and authorities to assess the causes, deploy solutions to address existing shortcomings, and consider strict accountability of the organizations and individuals involved in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 10 on strengthening road traffic order and safety in the new situation and Dispatch No. 10 on ensuring traffic order and safety during the Spring Festival 2024.
The Ministry of Public Security has directed Thua Thien Hue Police and related police units to urgently investigate and clarify the causes of the accident and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the regulations and cause the aforementioned exceptionally serious traffic accident; determine the direct causes of the traffic accident and related factors to serve the prevention of similar traffic accidents in the future.
The Ministry of Transport has directed the Vietnam Road Administration to coordinate with relevant agencies to review and enhance reasonable traffic organization on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway and the transportation infrastructure system on important national highways, especially expressways with only 2 lanes and expressways without emergency stopping lanes; particularly pay attention to adding emergency lanes, rescue holes, and emergency rescue facilities on expressways and national highways nationwide.
The Prime Minister has requested the Chairpersons of People’s Committees of provinces and cities to strengthen propaganda, guidance, and strict implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives on ensuring road traffic order and safety in the new situation; proactively develop effective leadership measures to promptly and effectively reduce and minimize traffic accidents, ensuring the best safety for people’s lives, health, and property.
