Significant Increase in Corporate Bond Issuance

According to the Ministry of Finance, 11 companies have issued bonds in the first two months of the year. The total volume of issued bonds is 7.25 trillion VND, which is 8.2 times higher than the same period last year.

The amount of corporate bonds issued has increased significantly compared to the same period, so investors expect this market to rebound. Real estate companies account for 52% of the issued bonds, while construction companies account for 24%.

The average bond issuance interest rate is 10.26% per year. The average bond maturity is 5.5 years. Up to 52.4% of the issued bonds have collateral.

The quality of investors has improved as nearly 81% of the bonds are bought by domestic institutional investors (foreign investors buy more than 6.2%, individual investors buy 13%).

Currently, there are 465 listed codes with an average trading volume in February 2024 of VND 9.2 trillion, up 40.9% compared to 2023.

There have been 936 bonds registered for trading on the system published on the Specialized information page about corporate bonds of the Hanoi Stock Exchange. These bond codes are from 266 businesses with a registered trading value of VND 652.9 trillion. The average trading value is VND 2.2 trillion/session.

In 2023, there were 78 companies issuing corporate bonds with a volume of VND 235.9 trillion. Companies also bought back VND 230 trillion worth of bonds before maturity, up 5.8% compared to 2022.

Representatives from the Ministry of Finance have repeatedly affirmed their efforts to build the bond market in general and the corporate bond market in particular in a sustainable manner. The Ministry of Finance will continue to develop stable and transparent public markets that are safe and sustainable in order to stimulate long-term investment and development.
