Gold Prices Slightly Decline on Thursday Afternoon

Gold prices rose marginally on April 17th morning, reversing yesterday's decline. Prices dipped slightly in the afternoon but remained elevated compared to the close of business on April 16th.

The price of SJC gold at businesses has reversed and dropped by VND 200,000 per tael for both buying and selling, down to VND 82.1 – 84.1 million per tael.

Meanwhile, the price of plain gold rings has also declined slightly, by around VND 100,000 per tael. At Bao Tin Minh Chau, the price of this precious metal is listed at VND 75.17-76.87 million per tael. The price of gold rings at Saigon Jewelry Company remains stable at VND 74.7-76.6 million per tael.

Compared to yesterday afternoon, the price of gold rings today has remained relatively unchanged, while SJC gold has increased by approximately VND 400,000 per tael.

On the world market, the gold price today has fluctuated significantly, reaching USD 2,394 at one point and dropping to USD 2,374 per ounce at another, currently standing at USD 2,388 per ounce, an increase of USD 6 compared to the close of trading yesterday. Converted using the Vietcombank exchange rate, the price of gold on the world market is currently equivalent to almost VND 72.9 million per tael. Thus, SJC gold is still priced at a premium of over VND 11 million per tael compared to the world market.

Compared to the beginning of the morning, the price of SJC gold has unexpectedly reversed and surged, returning to the VND 84 million per tael mark. At Saigon Jewelry Company, the price of SJC gold is now VND 82.3-84.3 million per tael, an increase of VND 500,000 per tael for both buying and selling. The price of SJC gold at DOJI has also increased by VND 300,000 for buying and VND 200,000 for selling, bringing it to VND 82-84 million per tael. Bao Tin Minh Chau adjusted upwards by VND 500,000 for buying and VND 350,000 for selling, currently at VND 82.3-83.95 million per tael. Meanwhile, the price of gold rings at various brands has remained flat compared to the early morning session.

Updated **9:10**, the price of plain rings at Saigon Jewelry Company is listed at VND 74.8-76.7 million per tael, an increase of VND 400,000 per tael compared to the close of trading yesterday.

The price of plain rings at DOJI has risen sharply by VND 750,000 for buying and VND 1.35 million for selling, currently listed at VND 75.35-77.15 million per tael.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau, the price of plain gold rings has remained stable at VND 75.33-77.03 million per tael.

Meanwhile, the **price of SJC gold ** has adjusted slightly. Specifically, the price of SJC gold listed at Saigon Jewelry Company is VND 81.8-83.8 million per tael, an increase of VND 100,000 per tael compared to the close of trading yesterday. 

Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company Limited currently lists the price of SJC gold at VND 81.8-83.6 million per tael, an increase of VND 100,000 for buying per tael. 

DOJI is currently listing the price of SJC gold at VND 81.7-83.8 million per tael, an increase of VND 100,000 for selling.

On April 15, the State Bank requested that ministries and agencies coordinate in implementing the Prime Minister’s directives on gold market management. Among them, the agency assigned to manage the gold market has requested the Ministry of Finance to facilitate gold import clearance procedures. Simultaneously, the State Bank has asked the Ministry of Public Security to cooperate in organizing safe and effective auctions for SJC gold bars.

Earlier, the State Bank announced that it would increase the supply of gold bars to the market through auctions in the near future. Currently, 26 entities, including commercial banks and gold trading businesses, trade with the State Bank. To date, 15 entities are eligible to participate.

On the international market, this morning the spot price of gold stood around USD 2,382.8 per ounce, up by USD 5.8 per ounce compared to last night. Converted using the Vietcombank exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to almost VND 72.6 million per tael (excluding taxes and fees). This price is VND 11.2 million per tael lower than Vietnamese SJC gold.
