According to Modor Intelligent, the Global Motorcycle and Electric Motorcycle Market size is expected to reach USD 1.03 billion in 2024 and projected to reach USD 1.40 billion by 2029, exhibiting a CAGR of 6.43% during the forecast period (2024-2029).

Legacy motorcycle players like Yamaha, Honda are also quickly jumping into the bandwagon and continuously launching new products. Now, Suzuki is the latest entrant in the segment as it gears up to introduce the Suzuki e-Access.

Indian publication Gaadiwaadi has now captured the test mule of the Suzuki e-Access on the public roads of the country on April 24.

This indicates that Suzuki is quite serious about developing an electric version of its motorcycle after having considered an electric version of the Suzuki Burgman scooter earlier. The model is likely to challenge the petrol-powered Honda Vision if launched.

Although the specific details of the model are yet to be revealed widely, it is anticipated that the Suzuki e-Access will feature a similar design approach as its petrol-powered sibling and will pack the power equivalent to a 125cc internal combustion engine.

Positioned as an affordable electric two-wheeler, the Suzuki e-Access may only get basic features similar to other commuter scooters. Additionally, the Suzuki e-Access is likely to come with essential features like a digital instrument panel and a USB charging port. User-friendly attributes of the Access, such as the generous under-seat storage space and comfortable seating, are expected to be carried forward to the electric version.

Suzuki is expected to launch the e-Access by the second half of 2024, with India likely to be the first target market. The company will observe the moves of rivals Honda and Yamaha before deciding on an appropriate time for its debut.

With the upcoming launch of the Suzuki e-Access electric two-wheeler, the Japanese manufacturer will not only mark its strong entry into the electrification race in the two-wheeler segment but also assert its intention to compete directly with players like Honda, Pega, and Yamaha.

The model promises to provide Indian and Southeast Asian customers with a new affordable option suitable for their daily commuting needs.

Despite not being officially available in Vietnam, the Access is the brand’s best-selling scooter, rivaling the Honda Vision.

Previously, the Suzuki Access 125 facelift with a petrol engine was spotted testing on the roads. This is the first facelift since the scooter received an update in 2016.

Based on the captured images, the facelift features subtle design tweaks that make it look more muscular. The headlamp cluster, front fender, and exhaust have all been revised. The lighting system on the scooter has been upgraded to full-LED.

Suzuki powers the Access 125 with a 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This motor churns out a maximum power of 8.7 PS at 6750 rpm and a peak torque of 10Nm at 5500 rpm. Other equipment on the scooter includes telescopic front forks and a coil spring rear suspension.

The Suzuki Access 125 is currently priced in India between Rs 84,135 and Rs 88,285 (VND 25.6 million) when converted to Vietnamese currency using the current exchange rate. The scooter directly rivals the Honda Activa 125, Hero Destini, and Jupiter 125 in the populous country.
