Landmark projects transforming Ho Chi Minh City’s urban landscape

With the first metro line and many other key infrastructure and transportation projects under construction, the urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City has been transformed in recent years.

Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) has a total investment of over VND 43,000 billion. This is the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City.

The project has a 2.6 km underground section passing through 3 stations and an elevated section of 17.1 km passing through 11 stations.

Currently, contractors are rushing to complete Metro Line 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, ready to accelerate progress and put it into commercial operation by the end of this year.

Metro Line 1 also contributes to changing the urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City from the central area of District 1 to the Long Binh depot (Thu Duc City).

The Tham Luong – Ben Cat – Rach Nuoc Len Channel Infrastructure Construction and Environmental Improvement Project passes through 7 districts, including: Binh Chanh, 12, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Tan Binh, Go Vap, Binh Thanh with a total length of nearly 32km.

The project has a total investment of VND 8,200 billion, of which the central government’s capital is VND 4,000 billion and the city’s budget is VND 4,200 billion.

The completion of the project promises to help drain water, prevent flooding and improve the environment for an area of 14,900 ha. At the same time, it will create a waterway, a road connecting the northern and southern parts of the city, which is the basis for driving the socio-economic development of the region.

The project is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025.

The An Phu Intersection (Thu Duc City) has a total investment of VND 3,408 billion. This is one of the expected gateway traffic projects to help reduce traffic congestion at the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and the road leading to Cat Lai port.

The project aims to improve the connection between Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, with Mai Chi Tho Boulevard and the city’s main roads, in order to maximize the effectiveness of transportation projects in the area.

An Phu intersection has a 3-storey design with a 2-way underpass connecting Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway with Mai Chi Tho Boulevard (Thu Thiem tunnel side), extending through the Mai Chi Tho – Dong Van intersection. Cong. The cross-sectional size of the road section is 10-12 lanes, the tunnel section is 4 lanes running in two directions, and each flyover has 2 lanes.
