Average income of people in Thanh Hoa reaches over 4.6 million/month

The General Statistics Office has just announced the Survey on Living Standards of the Population in 2023. This is a sample survey under the National Statistical Survey Program that aims to collect information to assess living standards, assess the state of poverty and the gap between rich and poor, and monitor and evaluate a number of national target programs.

The Survey on Living Standards of the Population in 2023 was conducted in 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, including 46,995 households representing the whole country, urban and rural areas, 6 geographical regions, and provinces/centrally-run cities.

Average income per person/month of 14 provinces and cities in the North Central Coast and Central Coast regions (unit: million VND).

Accordingly, the average income per person/month in Thanh Hoa in 2023 reached over 4.6 million VND, higher than the average of the North Central Coast and Central Coast regions of over 4.2 million VND/person/month, but lower than the national average of 4.96 million VND/person/month.

The highest average income per person/month in the country is in Binh Duong with nearly 8.3 million VND, the lowest is Dien Bien with nearly 2.2 million VND.

In Vietnam, the group of households with the highest income (the group of 20% of the population with the highest income – group 5) have an average income per person/month of 10.86 million VND, 7.5 times higher than the group of households with the lowest income (the group of 20% of the population with the lowest income – group 1) with an average income of 1.45 million VND/person/month.

In general, the survey by the General Statistics Office shows that the average income per person/month in urban areas in 2023 reached 6.26 million VND, nearly 1.5 times higher than in rural areas (4, 17 million VND).

In 2023, the Southeast region had the highest average income per person/month (6.52 million VND). The region with the lowest average income per person/month was the Northern Midlands and Mountains (3.44 million VND). The North Central Coast and Central Coast regions ranked 4th out of 6 regions with an average income per person/month of over 4.26 million VND.

According to the General Statistics Office, the income structure is shifting towards increasingly progressive. Income from wages and salaries still accounts for a high proportion of personal income, increasing from 51.1% in 2018 and maintaining a level of over 55% from 2020 to 2023. In contrast, the proportion of income from self-employment in agriculture, forestry and fishery tends to decrease, from 13.3% in 2018 to 10.2% in 2023.

In 2023, the average number of people per household was 3.6, and the average number of people of working age per household was 2.1.

 

10 provinces and cities with the highest income in the country: Hanoi: 6.42 million VND, Vinh Phuc: 5.19 million VND, Bac Ninh: 5.46 million VND, Hai Phong: 5.89 million VND, Nam Dinh: 5.1 million VND, Da Nang: 5.8 million VND, Binh Duong: 8.07 million VND, Dong Nai: 6.34 VND, Ho Chi Minh City: 6.39 million VND, Can Tho: 5.32 million VND.

10 lowest provinces in the country: Ha Giang: 2.06 million VND, Cao Bang: 2.35 million VND, Bac Kan: 2.34 million VND, Dien Bien: 2.08 million VND, Lai Chau: 2.21 million VND, Son La: 2.14 million VND, Gia Lai: 2.56 million VND, Lao Cai: 2.88 million VND, Yen Bai: 2.84 million VND, Lang Son: 2.7 million VND.
