A Wave of Chinese Businesses Eyeing Vietnam: Exploring Opportunities in the Vibrant Market

On May 25, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam had the pleasure of hosting a meeting with the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce of Yunnan Province, China. During this productive gathering, the two parties engaged in a fruitful exchange of ideas, sharing insights into their respective organizational structures and operational activities. The primary focus of the discussion was to explore collaborative opportunities and investment possibilities for the member businesses of both associations.

Mr. Trinh Hieu Thanh, Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce of Yunnan Province, China, emphasized the significant demand and potential for collaboration between the two countries’ businesses. He highlighted Vietnam’s attractiveness as a market due to its stable political, social, and macroeconomic environment, as well as its young and skilled workforce.

Mr. Thanh further underscored the geographical advantage Vietnam holds, making it the most promising market for young enterprises in Yunnan Province. As a result, businesses from Yunnan and China, in general, are keen on forging partnerships, exchanging information, and exploring business opportunities in Vietnam. They are also eager to understand the requirements and conditions for Chinese companies investing in the country.

Mr. Dang Hong Anh, Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam, provided an overview of the association’s reach and impact. With nearly 19,000 members nationwide, the association boasts an annual revenue of over $40 billion, contributing more than 10% to the country’s GDP. Additionally, the association provides employment opportunities for over 5 million people.

Yunnan Province shares a border with four northern provinces of Vietnam: Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien. It serves as a crucial gateway in the economic corridor connecting Kunming, Lao Cai, Hanoi, Haiphong, and Quang Ninh.

“This advantageous position presents a great opportunity for Yunnan to act as a bridge, facilitating the deeper and wider reach of Vietnamese goods to the southwestern provinces of China,” said Mr. Hong Anh. “Yunnan also serves as a vital gateway for Chinese products to enter the potential ASEAN market through Vietnam.”

The Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam expressed his aspirations for the continued growth of the collaborative relationship between the two organizations. He believes that this partnership will pave the way for numerous development opportunities in various sectors, including import and export, logistics, science and technology, information technology, and energy.

Mr. Dang Hong Anh assured the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam’s support for foreign businesses, especially Chinese enterprises, looking to invest and operate in Vietnam.

Addressing the interest of many Chinese companies in establishing a presence in Vietnam, Mr. Dang Hong Anh reaffirmed the Vietnamese government’s open-door policy, welcoming foreign investments. The Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam stands ready to assist Chinese businesses, especially when it comes to investing in any locality in Vietnam. With a network of young entrepreneurs across the provinces, the association can provide support to foreign-invested enterprises regarding policies, legal procedures, and more.

On this occasion, Mr. Trinh Hieu Thanh, Chairman of the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce of Yunnan Province, China, expressed his desire for the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Vietnam to conduct a survey in Yunnan Province. He extended an invitation to participate in and collaborate on future training events tailored for young enterprises in Yunnan.
