WELL Certification: Promoting a Healthy Work-Life Balance

The WELL Certification is an esteemed standard, renowned for its comprehensive evaluation of architectural structures. This certification takes into account medical research and the intricate links between space, health, and human wellness. It sets a benchmark for promoting the health and wellness of employees working in office buildings.

Administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), a non-profit organization, the certification process involves assessing office buildings across ten critical criteria. These criteria encompass both physical workspace elements and aspects of employee well-being. From the quality of air, water, and nourishment to the importance of light, sound, and materials, the WELL Certification ensures that the built environment supports the mental and physical health of its occupants.

Hanoi’s First WELL Precertified Office Building: Office Tower @ Heritage West Lake

In a significant development in mid-June 2024, Office Tower @ Heritage West Lake (Office Tower @HWL) made headlines by becoming the first office building in Hanoi to achieve WELL precertification. This recognition sets the stage for the official WELL certification, anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.

Office Tower @HWL is a testament to energy efficiency and sustainability. With its energy-saving solutions, the building achieves substantial annual energy reductions. The use of 24mm Low-E glass in its exterior design reduces heat transfer, leading to a nearly 70% decrease in energy consumption. Additionally, enhancements in thermal performance within the building envelope improve cooling energy efficiency by over 9%.

The tower is equipped with 380 lighting sensors, intelligently optimizing energy use by detecting unoccupied areas and adjusting lighting accordingly. Natural daylight illuminates over 30% of the workspace, further reducing electricity demands.

A standout feature is the dedication to green spaces, with a sprawling area covering 2.8 times the site’s footprint. The “Green Oasis” on the 22nd and 23rd floors offers a tranquil sanctuary for employees, showcasing native plants that minimize water usage.

Located in the vibrant West Lake area, known for its active lifestyle options, Office Tower @HWL goes beyond innovative design by prioritizing employee well-being. A diverse range of amenities, both within the building and within a 400-meter radius, further enhances the work-life balance for its occupants.
