According to initial investigation results, Nguyen Minh An (born 1996), residing in Hoang Van Thu Ward, Lang Son City, became acquainted with and worked with an individual named B, a local, in the field of game money recharging. Since the beginning of 2024, An has engaged in online gambling multiple times, involving activities such as casino, Sic Bo, coin flipping, and horse racing.
During May and June 2024, An, in need of personal funds and gambling money, deceived the victim into investing in cryptocurrency trading, amassing a total of VND 300 million. Subsequently, An used the aforementioned money to gamble online and is now unable to repay the debt.
Upon receiving the report, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of the Lang Son Provincial Police launched an investigation and identified the culprit. The police have since issued an arrest warrant and detained Nguyen Minh An for gambling offenses. They are also investigating the accused for the additional offense of appropriating the victim’s money.
