Removal of National Assembly Delegation Duties for Mr. Chau Van Lam and Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh

National Assembly Secretary General Bui Van Cuong announced the decision of the National Assembly Standing Committee, based on the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, legal regulations, and the opinion of competent authorities. Prior to this, the two gentlemen had submitted requests to be relieved of their duties as National Assembly delegates.
Previously, the Central Executive Committee of the Party agreed to relieve Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, former Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ha Giang Province, and Mr. Chau Van Lam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Tuyen Quang Province, from their positions as Members of the 13th Party Central Committee.
Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh and Chau Van Lam were found to have violated Party regulations in performing their assigned duties and responsibilities, violated the rules on what Party members must not do, the responsibility to set an example, and regulations on corruption and negative behavior prevention. Realizing their responsibility to the Party and the people, the two gentlemen submitted requests to be relieved of their assigned positions.
Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, 48, a native of Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, holds a doctorate in Urban and Construction Management and a degree in Civil and Industrial Engineering. Mr. Khanh has served as Director of the Department of Construction, Secretary of Nghi Xuan district, and Vice Chairman of the province. In 2016, at the age of 40, he became the youngest provincial Chairman in the country when he took office as Chairman of the Ha Tinh People’s Committee. In July 2019, the Politburo assigned him to the position of Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee. In May 2023, he was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term.
Mr. Chau Van Lam, 57, a native of Tuyen Quang, worked for four years in the Youth Union organization before becoming Vice Chairman of Na Hang district at the age of 29. He has had a long career in Tuyen Quang, holding positions such as Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the People’s Committee. From May 2015 to the present, he has served as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council.
