The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a directive to domestic airlines regarding flight operations during the upcoming National Day holiday on September 2nd.

The authority instructed airlines to proactively collaborate with travel businesses to develop programs and flight schedules to key tourist destinations, both domestically and internationally, to boost domestic and international tourism.

The Civil Aviation Authority requested reports on airline ticket supply.

Airlines are required to coordinate with ground service providers to establish flight service plans, especially for flights operating during night-time hours, to maintain and stabilize flight ratios and frequencies while ensuring safety and operational capacity.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also requested reports on flight operations, including fleet utilization, demand for additional flights, and ticket sales and reservation status for domestic tourist destinations during the period from August 30th to September 3rd.

According to a survey conducted on August 13th through various airlines’ online ticket sales channels, airfare to tourist destinations during the National Day holiday is showing an increase compared to half a month ago.

For example, airfare on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route ranges from 1.7 to 2 million VND (including taxes and fees). Notably, on September 3rd, fares are significantly higher, ranging from 2 to 3.8 million VND, with Vietnam Airlines’ business class fare reaching nearly 9 million VND. This represents a 15-20% increase compared to the previous month.

On the Hanoi-Danang route, Vietravel Airlines offers flights on September 2nd starting at 1.8 million VND one way. All other flights operated by Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, and Vietnam Airlines have fares starting at over 2 million VND one way. The most expensive flights are those departing during lunchtime to early afternoon, with Vietnam Airlines offering fares of 2.6 million VND one way.

The Hanoi-Da Lat route has limited ticket availability. Vietjet offers the lowest fare at around 1.3 million VND one way, while Vietnam Airlines’ fare goes up to 4.6 million VND one way.

To meet the travel demands of passengers, Vietnam Airlines announced it would significantly increase the number of flights during the National Day peak period. The total number of seats offered on the carrier’s domestic and international network will reach approximately half a million, corresponding to nearly 2,500 flights. The routes with the most additional flights include Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi to Da Nang, Da Lat, and Cam Ranh, and Ho Chi Minh City to Hue and Phu Quoc.

The total number of domestic seats is expected to reach 330,000, equivalent to more than 1,700 flights, representing a 19% increase compared to the same period last year.
