In mid-August 2024, over 2,500 workers and engineers, along with hundreds of machinery and equipment, are working tirelessly in 3 shifts and 4 teams to meet the construction schedule of Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport. The project consists of 4 main items: Passenger Terminal, Multi-storey Car Park combined with Non-aviation Services, Viaduct in front of the Terminal, and Aircraft Parking Apron with a total investment of over VND 10,000 billion.

The project commenced on August 31, 2023, and as of now, the Passenger Terminal’s concrete structure has reached 100% completion, architectural construction 85%; the Multi-storey Car Park and Non-aviation Services have achieved 100% completion in concrete structure and 75% in architectural construction.

The M&E package has reached 100% completion in concrete structure, and the M&E installation has been completed by 100%, with the contractor currently installing equipment. Meanwhile, the Aircraft Parking Apron and Viaduct are expected to be completed by the end of February 2025.

Since the end of May 2024, the contractor has accelerated the construction schedule by installing iron structures, glass walls, and roofing in a rolling manner.

Mr. Le Khac Hong, Director of the Terminal 3 Project Management Board, shared that according to the initial schedule, the project would be put into operation by the end of June 2025. However, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, have requested the investor to expedite the progress so that the project can be completed two months earlier to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Reunification of Vietnam.

Previously, in the afternoon of August 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that as the construction time is not long, relevant units must direct and supervise more decisively and handle any arising issues promptly to ensure the construction progress and quality of the project.

With a construction area of over 100,000m2, Terminal 3 can be said to have “overcome the sun and rain”. “Now, the work is mainly done indoors, so the rain has little impact, and the progress is very promising,” said the Prime Minister.

Engineers and workers at the construction site must strictly comply with technical regulations and standards.

Workers and engineers are working tirelessly day and night to put the terminal into operation, serving tens of millions of passengers annually.

With a construction area of over 100,000 m², Terminal 3 is equipped with the most modern technologies, from security inspection systems to automated baggage handling systems, ensuring a convenient and safe experience for passengers.

This project will not only help reduce the load on the current two terminals (T1 and T2) but also play a strategic role in enhancing connectivity and meeting the economic and tourism development needs of Southern Vietnam.

Upon completion, Terminal 3 will not only be a modern infrastructure project but also a strong driving force for the economic development of the Southern region.

The expansion of Tan Son Nhat Airport’s capacity will attract more investors, businesses, and international tourists, thereby creating more job opportunities and boosting economic growth.
