City of Thu Dau Mot Accelerates Land Clearance for Key Infrastructure Projects

Nguyen Thu Cuc, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thu Dau Mot City in Binh Duong Province, reported significant progress in land clearance for several key national and provincial infrastructure projects within the city’s jurisdiction. In the first seven months of 2024, the city facilitated the handover of 55.4 hectares of land, equivalent to 83% of the total area designated for expropriation. Moreover, over 90% of the approved compensation funds have been disbursed.

Specifically, regarding the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, 176 out of 11.29 hectares of land have been handed over, achieving a remarkable 92% completion rate. The city is committed to delivering 100% of the required land to the investor by December 2024.

For the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project, phase 1, which spans from Thu Bien Bridge to the Saigon River, the city has made substantial headway. It has approved land expropriation plans and completed surveys, measurements, and inventory for all 14 affected individuals in the Hoa Phu ward, representing 100% completion. The expected land expropriation area is 2 hectares. The city is currently proposing specific land prices to calculate compensation and support in accordance with regulations. The disbursement of compensation and support is anticipated to occur by the end of November 2024.

In the National Highway 13 expansion project, Thu Dau Mot has disbursed over VND 106 billion in compensation and support to 23 households and one organization. The land handover process for this project has been completed in full.

Regarding the Ngã Năm Phước Kiến underpass construction project in Hiep Thanh ward, 52 out of 122 cases have handed over their land, accounting for 0.2685 hectares or 43% of the total area. Efforts are underway to encourage the remaining 70 cases to vacate 0.3615 hectares of land, with a goal of achieving 70% land clearance by December 2024.

The Saigon Riverfront Road project is progressing with the construction of a 1,220-meter riverbank reinforcement wall from Tho Ngu Bridge to Rach Bay Tra. This section is currently 30% complete and is expected to be finished by December 2024. Additionally, the city is advocating for provincial support to secure budget allocation for the third phase of the project, which spans from Rach Bay Tra to Rach Ba Lua.
