On August 17, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation, submitted his resignation.

Mr. Nam stated that due to personal reasons, he would like to step down from his position as Chairman of the Board and resign from his membership on the Board of Directors of the company.

Mr. Nam’s resignation will be approved by a resolution of the General Meeting of Shareholders of Viettel Post.

Two days earlier, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of Viettel Military Industry and Telecom Group held a conference to hand over the tasks of the Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy General Director of the Group.

Accordingly, Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy General Director of the Group, will retire from August 1, 2024, as per his request. At the conference, Major General Nguyen Thanh Nam handed over the tasks of the Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy General Director of Viettel to Major General Tao Duc Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman and General Director of Viettel.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam’s departure from the position of Chairman of Viettel Post comes amid stagnant revenue for the company in 2022 and a decline in 2023. Previously, Viettel Post had an impressive growth streak, increasing its revenue from 2,000 billion VND in 2015 to nearly 21,500 billion VND in 2021.

In terms of profit, Viettel Post experienced a drop in 2021 and 2022 but managed to regain the 380 billion VND profit mark in 2023.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Wireless Electronics and Communications. He has extensive experience as a senior manager at Viettel Network Corporation, Viettel International Investment Joint Stock Corporation, and Viettel Myanmar (Mytel). From 2021 to the present, Mr. Nam has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettel Post and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Digital Transportation Joint Stock Company.
